Hello Everybody!

 

I would like to apologise in advance if this was answered before.

I have this thing that's been bugging me for a while now.

 

Every time I drive my Skoda Fabia Scout 2011, I see this line across the windshield starting from the middle-top going down.

It resembles the heating lines from the back, but this one is all alone and it's sitting there all by herself  . Is this an antenna of some sorts?

Yes that's what it is.

To elaborate, it's an antenna for the radio.

An autoglass guy told me its an antenna for the radio, but it isnt used on uk cars.

Apparently if they replace a windscreen with it in, they often replace it with one without it.

If Memory serves me right it's a AM antenna

I did scan for AM channels the other day with success. Was wondering if the aerial on the roof did both am & fm. I did spot the thin like but thought it was part of manufacturing process or something.

 

It's there under standard equipment.

I was just about to ask you guys, if that from the windshield is the radio antenna, what is the the one on top of the car then?

But if you guys say that is the FM2 antenna, then I guess that is that then

Ah in that case, if i ever need a new windscreen, im going to insist its a genuine one with the antenna
