Heated windscreen

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I have ordered on my Superb, heated windscreen. I have it also on O3 VRS an I fiind it useful.

Problem is that I don't see those tiny threads through the windscreen.

It this heated windscreen in S3 different as construction?

The button is where, but....

Please see pictures.

There are no visible wires on the Superb MK3 heated screen it has a special metalic coating, which can be seen from the outside as the coating is a  a different colour to the rest of the windows.

Ok. Than it is clear.

Better solution I think, compared to the one on O3.

Thank you.

I have this on my Golf and its great - only downside was, upon receiving a crack in the windscreen,  convincing AutoGlass that it was in fact heated - the  call centre operator informed me that the Golf couldn't have a heated windscreen and when eventually convinced, despatched a new windscreen.  When being fitted, the installer assured me it was heated and upon completion, informed me that a mistake had been made and I was left with a standard windscreen for a few days whilst the correct heated example was sourced.  All in all a kerfuffle.

The obvious part of the heated windscreen apart from the goldy looking tint when viewed outside is the pair of dangly wires that need to be connected - the non heated variety doesn't have this although installers might convince you otherwise.

A few years ago, I had a Mondeo with a heated screen. It had to be replaced due to being cracked.

The windscreen company - I can't remember which one - replaced it and it worked fine for a couple of days, then it started only clearing on the passenger side. It turned out that the fitter hadn't clipped the wiring back out of the way and the first time I used the wipers, the linkage cut though the wiring, so yet another screen was fitted.
