What I saw at the car people today

Featured Replies

Badge snobbery gone mad,that's what

A polo gti 61 plate 26k miles at £13000

A fab vrs 61 plate 40k miles at £9500

The fab looked better in every way and even had black grille/surround and new badges

Polo had those horrible tartan seats that everyone but me seems to like

Even though the polo is dearer brand new the difference was a bit of an eye opener

Funny thing is you just know the polo will sell first!

Polo has less miles and is a much much nicer looking car

Maybe £1500 of that was the milage difference.

A Polo GTI (I'm sure that's a rarer car too?) for £2000 more sounds about right.

From memory is handles a bit better and doesn't have such a cheap dash with three big plastic heating dials right in your eye line?

But I could be wrong, maybe it's the same inside. :D

On looks alone, the Polo wins.  You just need to develop a tartan fetish.

Well the polo is the better car, with lower miles and those ac seats.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,just like a Golf :/

Correct. A bit nicer interior I think:

That's a great pic bar those seats. :)

The Polo/ Golf GTi seats have never really done it for me. Reminds me too much of Burberry and when I think of Burberry I think of Scumbag Steve :(

Still not enough pedals though.

Haha... it's the right amount of pedals!

I've never liked the Golf or Polo GTI tartan seats, or the Golf GTI cloverleaf wheels, so the Fabia does it for me.

Agreed

Seeing both cars close by the Skoda looked far better imho

Fabia in white,polo in black

Not sure how to put links up but both cars are probably on car people (Wakefield) website

Along with a ds3 racing I also liked. :)

Wouldn't consider the MK2 Fabia, but would take the Polo (and happy to pay the difference)

And defiantly needs three pedals :p

Polo

White is a terrible colour and the boom will end soon and it will be back to being known as the 60 day white (sits on the forecourt for 2 months)

The polo looks great, the Fabia less so.

Polo for me as well.

Polo here too!

But I'm sure Fabia mk2 owners have got a different opinion. ;)

Polo ALL day long, but oh dear, that gearbox that I keep.... apparently....getting all 'hysterical' about. :D

Maybe it's just me but side by side the Polo actually looks sleeker where the Fabia looks a bit tall and narrow.

'That' gearbox stopped me from buying one.

I won't go auto unless I lose a limb.

No, it's blatantly obvious now I've seen them both side by side for the very first time actually. :o

Not a fan of manual ac knobs anyway but highlighting the fact that their manual in the allu look doesn't help!

The Fabia looks prettier than the Polo. Those wheels should have stayed on the Golf rather than doing baby versions for the Polo. The Polo is on a newer platform too so I guess it helps keep a premium plus having a vw badge! :) I think id still have a Fabia RS over the Polo.

yeah, the Polo does look more hunkered down. Doesn't make it right though :D

They remind me of the Ford Carla fabric that they used in the S Capris.
