Lowering and tracking

Featured Replies

Got new lowered springs on my fabia and a new steering rack fitted. Went to kwik fit to get the alignment done (hunter system) and now the car pulls to the left heavily under acceleration and the steering wheel faces right when going straight.

Do you think kwik fit will have put the adjustments back to standard rather than what they would be on the lowered springs ? Not sure how all this works

Tbh I wouldn't trust kwik fit! Head up to a local tyre shop!

Obviously they have altered the track control end/s and made the steering wheel ****-eyed.

Removal of the steering wheel and place into correct position needs to be done.

Just take it back, they've done it wrong, probably because the locknut was seized on one side so they've lazily wound the adjuster on the other side to compensate.

This is not the correct way to go about putting it right.

The only time you should remove the steering wheel to line it up is if you centre the steering rack and the wheel is not straight.

Once the rack is centralised and the steering wheel is on straight you lock the steering wheel in place then set the tracking. :)

Sounds like you need to find a quick fit who understand how a hunter system work and what it is telling them.

The steer ahead is totally wrong.

Do you have the printout are the front cambers wildly different.

Left front camber  -2 31

left front caster 3 01

left from toe - 0 05

Right front camber - 0 48

right front caster 4 40

right front toe 0 05

Front total toe 0 11

steer ahead 0 00

left rear camber - 0 56

right rear camber -1 59

camber is massivly different side to side that will cause pull

These are factory settings

Fabia VRS Mk1

Front Wheels

Camber - Left Front "-0.09 to -1.09" Right Front "-1.09 to -0.09"

Toe - Left Front "0.00 to 0.10" Right Front "0.10 to 0.00"

Rear Wheels

Camber - Left Rear "-1.20 to -1.40" Right Rear "-1.40 to -1.20"

Toe - Left Rear "-0.07 to 0.33" Right Rear "0.33 to -0.07"

Obviously lower the car will increase the negative camber on our cars

Spud 31 it shouldnt be as massively out as it though mate? taking it to CLCM in edinburgh, a place that only does tracking, supposed to be cracking so we'll see what happens there

Mate

it is a issue with the pq25 ( fabia. ibiza, polo) platform that lowering the car does give excessive camber on the front.

TBH a place that knows what its doing could move the consoles to correct it as lower balljoint slots dont have enough movement.

My ibiza is on bilstein b8 and h&r 40mm springs and does pull left at mo but needs to be setup.

Place I visited today (reputable) believe that there is something bent on the front left handside and therefore they can't get that side spot on or even remotely. What could it be?

The console bush housing? I'm assuming they checked that the wheels were true.

console or wishbone
