Rapid Sill Damage

Featured Replies

Hi all,

So I was reversing around a corner today and managed to completely crease my sill around the rear wheel on a mound of solid concrete left behind by some road workers  :peek:

I am going to go to the garage this week to get a quote.

I was just wondering if anybody else had ever experienced any similar damage and what the outcome was?

The door and the area around it is absolutely fine - it is just the area with the chip paint that is creased.

Cheers!

Oh damn :/ Good luck!! (I am not being ironic)

SWMBO did a similar thing to the front section of the sill on our mondy estate years ago in a multi story by hitting a high kerb. We took it to a body shop and they cut out the damaged section and welded a new one in place. It cost around £350 IIRC which I worked out would be cheaper than going through the insurance at the time. HTH.

If it makes you feel better I had a much worse knock yesterday too.

Good news is I was in SWMBOs Fiesta!

Roughly £250 to fix. The repair involves making a hole in order to pull the dent out. It should be like new apparently.

Will post some pics when it is complete.

As above. The dent can be pulled out easily with a slide hammer then painted over. Easy job.

My wife's Clio has similar damage caused when she got too close to the end of a low wall beside one of our parking spaces.  We did have a local car body repairer who was excellent at repairing small damage at very reasonable prices.  Unfortunately he was the Bob Price who was killed in this year's Isle of Man TT.
