Should I go for it?

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

I went into my local dealership and instantly liked the VRS Combi.  Only problems were the delivery waiting time and the lack of a discount.

I managed to find a military agent able to do a discount, but they want to charge 10% for a PCP agreement.

The spec I am looking at gets the RRP up to just over £30k and the military dealer is offering a £5.5k discount.

VRS TDI DSG Combi / Amund Nav / Panoramic / Canton / Mitsumi / Colour Maxi / Simply Cl / Tow B-prep

I can't decide if the discount is strong enough to make up for the steep PCP rate and also if I should be waiting till possibly post-christmas for my car.

Thoughts much appreciated (as are tame dealers!)...

I'd imagine the crazy APR on the PCP will wipe out the discount and then some. Ask for a finance quote and see how much the interest charges add up to.

I can't get my head around paying £30k+ for a Skoda Octavia and waiting over 6 months for it to arrive but maybe I'm just impatient lol!

Interest paid on the PCP (3 years?) is probably around £4500.  However, as already said; get a written quote on all aspects of the PCP.

And as for waiting.....that's really only a question you can answer to be honest.

Agree with above posters. Just decide whether you think that's a good enough deal for you. Some people will get a discount by paying cash for things, some people won't. I don't think the offer is 'outstanding' given the interest rate but some discount is presumably better than none unless there are other parts of the finance deal you don't like.

Even for PCP, you don't have to finance it through dealer/supplier. You can source PCP finance directly through large companies like ALD finance,(part of Soc Gen, one of Europe's largest banks). Not as low as some manufacturer deals but at 7.8% lower than the 10% offered. You can do it all over the phone and they pay supplying dealer directly, and like a normal PCP secure finance against the car with guranteed future value etc.

Cheers

Steve
