Headlight out - not bulb or fuse

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can offer some suggestions -

My driver side ( right side ) headlight unit is not working. Neither the main/low beam nor the sidelight will come on, although the indicator still works.

I changed the main beam bulb and no joy ( there was no sign of the previous one being broken ), I swapped the #58 and #57 fuses out, this also didn't help.

Next guess is something wrong with the earth point for the unit ? Does this sound likely ?

This is a 56 plate roomster, but I'm posting to the fabia II forum because AFAIK the car's the same at the front and more people will read it here ;) The headlight module is the cornering variety.

Any help appreciated. Thx :)

Have you checked the replacement bulb is OK? There is only one bulb for high/low on Fabia. New bulbs have been known to be faulty.

Halfords sell a set including headlamp bulb for not much more cost than headlamp bulb on its own.

It's a fair point, I've got another spare I can try that too

Ah, it's a wiring problem :(

There's two brown and two red wires that go into the back of the bulb holder for the projector bulb - both brown wires are damaged very near the mounting point.

It looks like a bit of solder will sort them out ( they look half-cut, or maybe fatigued, and then they've pulled loose with the projector unit turning ). Does anyone know it ifts possible to unlcip this wire further up the chain so that I can remove it before attempting a repair, as there's not a lot of room to work in ?
