Suspension + TMC

Featured Replies

Morning chaps

Proud owner of a Green Fabia VRS here.

I'm thinking of adding a TMC tuning box and Eibach springs.

How many are running the boxes - any probs? and can anyone recommend a place in the west mids/Worcestershire to get the springs fitted - rough price too if you have had it done.

Any help would be great!

Thank you.

As far as I am aware there has been no problems with using the box apart from a couple of guys had connections come loose so as long as you check that everything is secure you shouldn't have a problem.

If you have just got facia then dealer should be able to fit eibach springs and still hold warrenty, h&r springs are good many guys adding them

Heard plenty of good things about the TMC box, couple of people have started talking about a BlueSpark box, does a similar thing but is allot cheaper, probably still a risky option as not many people on here tested them yet.

Springs are easy enough to fit if your mechanically minded, otherwise like leevrs180 said above your dealer should fit them :)

Cheers Guys

Not really mechanically minded, although did fit some rear springs on a Fiat 100hp once, no clamps were needed......pretty sure I would balls it up though....lol.

Waiting on a call back from the dealers, although labour charges would be high with them.

I have a TMC box and have been very happy with it so far.

I have H&R springs fitted to mine and I like the lowered look that it gives. The Eibach springs do not lower by as much but are Skoda 'approved'

My H&R springs were £130 and fitting was £150 including laser alignment on the wheels which is necessary when altering the suspension.

Where did you get them fitted Ally.......Having 2 years warranty left I think the eibach are best for me....have any seen these on a car? what did you think??

Thanks.

this is mine with eibachs and H&R RARB (the best mod for improving the handling ;) )

I rand a TMC box on my old fabia vRS (2) for 50k, and had no issues with it... the new one I have left alone, as the CTHE engine is that quick anyway ;)

Looks great Sharkrider, did you fit the H&R RARB yourself?

no, but many people on here have.... personally glad I didn't, three blokes and a crowbar needed to get it on ;)

Oh really, so its not just undoing a bolt and putting on......waiting on a few quotes for the spring upgrade, and defo thinking about the TMC box.

  • Author

thks for that......does the box make the 0 - 60 time much quicker, or is it more pull midrange.....sorry re all the questions.

Both. My 0-60 time is down and the mid range grunt is improved.

Any idea what to Ally? stock is 7.2, I think!

Also, I have been quoted £380 all in for the springs, including wheel alinement - sounds expensive, but not many options!

The stock time Skoda publish is inaccurate to begin with, these cars do 0-60 in around 6.5 seconds. With the TMC it's around 6. So you gain 0.5s. Not bad for £400!! F1 teams would die to gain that performance for the money! £380 at a dealership?? It's a fair price and won't void your warranty. My car is not under warranty anymore so I took mine to an indie garage ran by a friend of my Girlfriends Mum.

6 seconds....wow! how comes Skoda's time is out so much?

No - local(ish) garage, waiting on the dealers price, but pretty sure it will be more.

SHARPMAN,

Have you had your car long to see how it performs?

How old a car, and how many miles has it done?

If a used car, you really need to check that it is not already Remapped unless you are sure of the cars history,

or that it recently had a Skoda Update on the ECU.

Brought the car 6 months ago, ex demo and now has 8k on the clock.

So a CTHE Engine not a CAVE.

You maybe you have around 189 bhp already.

Do you run it on 99 RON Pertrol?

  • Author

Yes, the CTHE engine, checked that on the log book.....don't use 99 ron - should I?

  • Author

Did you guys need the wheel alinement doing when changing to the Eibach springs? this is whats bumping the price up a fair bit.

Yes I would class it as essential. Changing suspension parts can alter the tracking so a full alignment needs to be done. Also if you have a CTHE engine you can't fit a TMC box I'm afraid as they are not compatible! Bit being the revised engine you are already putting out 13bhp more than the older CAVE engines

nooooo....was looking forward to the TMC box - lol......so any idea what the 0-60 is on the CTHE engine?

Thanks for all the help guys.

Yes every idea on the times,

tyres and traction make a bit of a diiference.

but run it on 99 RON,  i suggest Tesco Momentum 99 & not Shell V-Power Nitro 99

The thing about the 0-60 is that the 0 or 5 -70 or 0 or 5-80 are much more interesting IMO.

Turn the TC off,

and be sure you are running 99 RON and try timing using GPS.

So a Standard CTHE Hatch on 99 ron, on 205/40 R 17's you should get around,

0-50, 5 second

0-62, 6.2 seconds

0- 70, 7.8 seconds

0-80, 9.8 seconds

6.2, why does everywhere state 7.3??

Defo no need to tune then.
