Kw Variant1,2 Or 3?

Featured Replies

hi guys,

thanks for answering my questions about sports springs,i've convinced myself that kw coilovers is the way to go,not sure i've convinced my bank manager or the missus:( anyway now i don't know which variant to have? bearing in mind the cost and the fact the car won't see any track action, also have a 14month old baby so i don't want it too bumpy, but i don't want body roll not asking for much then really? any comments suggestions would be appreciated.also where would be the best place to get them?maybe the importer motorsport international?

thanks guys

nat,

You could have a look at Impreziv here who stock the KWs and have supplied Briskoda members (I will be corrected if I am wrong).

One of the "lower sprung" members will no doubt be along shortly to explain the relative merits of variants 1, 2 and 3....

Cheers,

I bought variant 2 from Imprezive & I am very pleased with them. The car is a 4x4 & the ride is definately firmer but not horribly firm, They are still on the settings as supplied & I have not experimented with settings yet & I believe they could go softer if required BUT the big plus is a lack of roll in corners.

if you are anywhere near Winchester you are welcome to have a ride.

I avoided the V3 as they have much more scope for adjustment which if you get it wrong can aparently give a seriously bad ride & being a bit of a novice on suspension settings I could see me spending hours tweaking & still getting it wrong

This is the thing which concerns me about the KWs; the amount of adjustibility.

I want to be able to adjust the dampers but not the ride height as I reckon the RS is low enough already (for me anyway).

All adjust for height and only 2 and 3 give you damper adjustment. I suppose when they arrive they are set for a standard ride height....which I assume is lower than say an Elegance but around the same as an RS?

I think if you only looking for an improvement on standard - but not too bothered about tinkering with settings - go for variant 1 - you can still adjust ride height.

Variant 2 are adjustable for rebound - whic effect the pitch

Variant 3 are adjustabke for rebound and compression -- only really suitable for lot's of track work.

Ball park costs of 1, 2 and 3 please?

Denis.

Tis a dangerous route you are taking -- Jabba, KW's - next you'll be installing a big sub & I.C.E intall tinting the windows and fitting 19" rims

Anyway the info you requested :
