Don't always assume price comparison sites are the best

Featured Replies

Recently bought a Suzuki Vitara for use at the weekends (do a bit of rough shooting).  Being a second vehicle I had no transferable NCD, but have many claim free years on my principle car.

Did the 2 major price comparison sites and prices were within my expectations. Phoned NFU Mutual - result - cheapest quote of the lot, a company I can speak to and trust and 5 years introductory NCD (protected) - all for the price of the cheapest on line quote.

Amen to that.

Might  that be a loss-leader tied into their current advertising campaign ?

One wonders whether the less than well-prosperous/townies  would get the same deal.

Presume that the Farmers' Pension Fund (NFU Mutual) is awash with money (There's a surprise !) and that they are forced to look for new and more profitable sources of income on investment outside the conventional investment markets ! - Shades of Credit Agricole in France, 40 years ago ! (Those Europeans they are so backward !).

And the content of the TV advertising (In the SE) , certainly suggests that they are prepared to bend over backwards for claimants - albeit it on household insurance - providing your "Distressed middle class".

Why so cynical?

No, not a loss leader - take quotes on my main car every year and NFU Mutual are always there or there about's on headline premium, factor in their low interests if you want monthy payments and you are quids in.

How so competitive - well they are a Mutual = owned by the customers so no share holders wanting their pound of flesh. They have also been prudent investing members money over the years so are in a good place financially.

Service is second to none - local offices you can call or walk into and speak to a real person.

Why not look for new markets! - every business has to grow and diversify.

Like any insurance co they have a market sector they target. Give them a go, save yourself a few quid and you can splash the saving on another bag of chips to put on your shoulder.
