80mm maf and sfs tip

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm looking to pick up an sfs tip and I see that they do the 80mm one for the k04 engines. I'm also looking to replace my maf too soon as it's been on for 63k so must be on its last legs. Is the 80mm maf a worthwhile upgrade/plug and play? And will the 80mm tip fit the k03s?

Thanks for input!

Cal

No the 80 tip will not fit the K03s turbo it is purely for the K04 turbo. Also no point getting 80mm maf unless you are going to tune the fuel air and turbo boost to get best out of it.

Thanks fella, I was thinking in prep before I take it for stage 2 buy if it doesn't fit the k03s then no point. Cheers.

Just get the normal SFS/R-tech oversized intake pipe. I got the SFS one as I didn't need the MAF extension and it fits a treat. Bit tight around some of the pipework if you have the standard gubbins clogging up the engine bay like I have.

Cool, thanks for the advice. Is that the AH15/A or the AH15?

Cheers

AH15/A is the oversized one. Lloyd was in the process of organising a group buy not so long ago, but a lack of real interest and big enough discount from SFS/Ramair ended that one. Someone in the "Wanted" section was after one as well, so you might be able to sort something out. I just paid the going rate (£120-£140) and got it the next day as I didn't have time to wait for a group buy to take off.

Yep you need AH15A

Can be purchased on Ebay for £120 if you make a offer .

Also Rtech are out of stock last i heard.

I don't use extension either , bit tight but on there :p

I must admit, I was ready for a serious battle after reading all the guides. Getting the hose onto the turbo was easy after removing the bolt for the coolant pipe. But could I get that bolt back in after fitting the TIP? Could I heck!

If you were doing it again would you remove the coolant pipe? Or is it a no go leaving it on? How long did the job take you matey?

It probably is possible to do it without removing the bolt for the coolant pipes, but it is very tight. Bowders1 has done a great guide on the fitting, along with pictures.

I'm not sure how long it took to be honest. I spent about 14 hours on the car fitting the TIP, exhaust manifold, grinding a bracket down for the new actuator, as well changing the downpipe and some other bits, so I'd pretty much had enough by that point and wanted it driveable again. Removing that bolt for an extra few mm seemed the best plan at the time, as it basically allowed the intake pipe to fall into place on the turbo.

I removed the bolt on that B!+€^ of pipe and it's in my tool box now never to be refitted.

Haha, brilliant!

I'm guessing you haven't had any issues without it??!

Just had another read on bowders1's tip write up which answered the questions I'd asked! Sorry!

Both part number confirmation and 2hrs fit time...sorry and thanks for the replies even with my stupidity!

If fitting a larger tip I would defo remove bolt else you are in a world of agro. There is just not enough space with coolant pipe. I got my bolt back in after using the socket and extension as a pushing ram....
