My Dad's 1979 Chrysler Alpine GLS had headlight BRUSHES!  I don't think I ever saw them move, right up until they decayed into a rust-bound mass of bristles.

And Volvo have wipers too...

This video shows how lame these things are (in my view):

 

 

I love seeing the water coming into the headlight glare from the nose of the car and that is about all I like about them to be honest...  a bit of theater every fifth pull of the stalk.  :D

At last some real proof they will not clean off much. They do protrude a fair way though.

Here's a vid of my vRS, as you can see there's a short spray to loosen the dirt the a long one to remove it.
