rear view camera

Featured Replies

There is a shop on E##y that sell camera kits for VW's, not sure if these models would be compatible with the Skoda units or if these are for the older VW ones.

Fit vehicles equipped with head unit VW RNS 510 / RNS 315 / RCD 510 (with 26pin connector).

Would be much better if Skoda did the emblem camera like on the Golf GTi's but these are a lot more expensive.

They should fit as the Columbus is the RNS510 for example. I want OEM though.

  • Just recived 2 rvc for the O3 from juq-performans (stefan) A small rvc (aftermarket) and a large rvc (original) The new (2015) O3 estate is coming with a larger boot button than the sedan. Same butt

  • I retrofited the rear camera in my O3 MY14 with Bolero MIB, same for amundsen.. You must connect video signal to pin 6 and 12(gnd)  of Cd/sd unit, blue connector. Power the camera with 12v and codify

Does state that they are original VW items with the part numbers, proper cable connections and not just RCA plugs.

Camera part number: 1T 827566B, 5N0827566B
Wiring part number : 5M1970161AC

Haven't looked into doing any of this, just found the stuff whilst randomly searching through after seeing a Golf with the camera in the badge.

Interesting. You got a link to the eBay item?

£400 worth of trim clips :D

probably won't allow it to be retrofitted but reversing camera is a £300 option on SE up if they have a satellite aggravation unit fitted

It's now a factory option. I'm likely going to retro fit.

So far Advanced In-Car have tentatively quoted £850 - once I have a VIN they'll be able to get an accurate cost.

Anyone else recommend a VAG specialist in the South West?

That's a new option!

Hmm, also very interested in this upgrade - if its possible to retrofit! :)
Do have sat nav, so hopefully its possible!

It's DEFINITELY possible. Just cost that is a question. Car is here in 2 weeks so will be able to crack on with it then and report back. I'm pretty sure I'm going to give it a go myself as I'm buying VCDS so will be able to post coding as well to help other DIY'ers.

If it was a moderate price I'd be tempted to retrofit, but I doubt that's the case at all. Will be good to know one way or the other.

Don't think VCDS can code the new Panasonic rear view camera yet - it utilises a 64 bit address space apparently

Surely Rosstech will sort that shortly? It's not difficult to expand 32 to 64 bit - it's not processing, just a bit mask.

I reckon DIY it will be OK, if you have it fitted then you'll be paying a lot for all time it takes to pull all the trim for the cable.

Once they get their hands on one of the cameras I wouldn't expect it to take too long.

Just recived 2 rvc for the O3 from juq-performans (stefan)

A small rvc (aftermarket) and a large rvc (original)

The new (2015) O3 estate is coming with a larger boot button than the sedan. Same button as the Yeti.

I'm going to put it in a O3 Vrs sedan with columbus on monday

Will provide pictures and code if someone wants it

I got my camera from these people (about 20€ I think) - I also got my gps/ dvd head unit from them, had both fitted in Newton Abbot - both work very well. I would recommend the company  http://www.szrofaudio.com/product_detail.asp?id=100

regards

BTW, I use Murrays in Newton Abbot - they have been excellent

I'm trying to work out how they do it so cheap compared to what I was quoted above! I was told parts would be close to £600!

Maybe your dealer doesn't want to do the retrofit.....

And the eBay ones are all used parts intended for the old versions of Bolero/Columbus.

They output RGB video signal whereas the new generation MIB Amundsen and MIB Columbus require a different video signal (can't remember which)

The plug on the radio end of the cable is also different. The new MIB takes a 4-pin Fakra plug just like the one that is on the camera itself. The old Columbus takes the 26-pin flat plug that is in the eBay link.

And your O3 needs to be 2015,5 - that is build week 35/14 or later in order to have the correct size opening in the trunk lid. So yours might just be new enough.

Just visited my dealer today and spotted a new Octavia built in week 36. It had the big boot switch opening. Another one built in week 34 had the old smaller switch.

If anyone works out what's needed to retrofit this to a Bolero, I would be very happy!  The reversing camera is one thing I really miss from my old car.

Mine has the smaller aperture, so just missed out. Thought honestly, can't be hard to enlarge it a bit.

With rear parking sensors is there any point though?

Totally agree, can't see a justification for spending money on this bit of kit!

Very useful info.....
