Bonded on Boot Spoilers

Featured Replies

Guys I've been looking at the boot of the Ibiza in a rather disappointed way at the moment

The boot "spoiler" and high level brake light are a little uninspiring.

As per this library image white car below

There is a Cupra one available from a dealer and i'm pretty sure it looks like this

but it's a silly price (£130!) and comes unpainted etc etc

Now ebay has a blue boot lid complete with spoiler for £100

is it likely to be possible to remove the spoiler and stick it on my car instead?

Thus saving myself a bit of cash - also if I can't be bothered to Plasti-dip it it could also serve as a useful inspiration for a black and blue theme! L)

Errrmmmm how about you sort out my peeling paint on my spoiler first  :p

It's making me feel uninspired!

I would say it will be srewed or bolted on with some double sided bounding tape just for extra hold. There have been cars in the past that did only use srews/bolts to hold the spoilers.

Valxhall Astra VXR ones aren't even attached, the one on a friends Astra blew off one day!

On topic though, I'd buy that anyway, if it is attached with something hard you could always find another way of fixing it on, some evo grip or something. I would guess that the hard part would probably be finding where the wires go.

Thats just the kinda risk you take when you buy a vauxhall though. He musta known what he was gettin himself into when he bought it haha.

This I reckon and this picture from the parts catalog kind of confirms it:

34 is described as a clip - could be one at each end?

33 is also a clip of some sort which is secured in place with bolt 36.

"Bonded" in this context is another word for "glued". That said, I'd agree with Coops' interpretation of the parts diagram that they're at least partly bolted into place.

I'd say that exploded diagram is a standard boot lid though - as per picture one in my first post.

I've got one of those spoilers already

The fancy Cupra spoiler (picture 2) is an extra bit wghich sticks over the top of that one

and from my research on SCN it's just glued on

So I guess my real question is would I be able to get the Blue one off in one piece? :D

Or you could swap the whole spoiler units?

Buy the boot, get it painted your car colour, stick it on?

Aye, but he's a rozzer though/ CID in Leeds to be precise, bosses son, brother to the other bosses son, both got Astras at the same time because they got £3000 off. Non cop bosses son got rid of his standard Astra JUST before the gearbox went, it was making noises.

Crikey. Thats a lot of bosses sons ;)

Just 2, ones a cop and one's an arse  one stayed on the farm. Might just be me confusing things.
