Hi I have a 2008 mk2 octy 1.9tdi 105 but the engine is tired and I Have the opportunity to buy 2007 mk1 1.9tdi 105 bhp to use as a donor and I was wondering would this engine be the same or will these engines have different codes

It looks like there are 4 engine codes: BJB, BKC, BXE and BLS

I don't know how compatible they are, though.

Are you sure?

The 1.9 PD105 was never fitted to the Mk1 Octavia.

It only got the older 1.9 90 or 110 then later the PD130.

I think your 2008 will be a BXE code like mine.

I have a feeling the mk1 did eventually get the PD105 engine, but only late on when it was being sold alongside the mk2 in 'taxi' form? That would fit with a 2007 mk1 having a PD105. My recollection was that they switched over to the PD105 to comply with Euro 4, which the original mk1 pre-PD 1.9 engines in 90 & 110 form were not able to do.

I've heard that too, but remember that not all PD 105 engines are Euro 4 compliant.

1.9 PS 105 BXE certainly is, as in my 2008 model. But my 54 plate mark 2 1.9 PD 105 is a BJB, which is Euro 3.

That's interesting. I wonder what the differences are.
