Stream MP3 Radio

Featured Replies

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is possible to wire a subwoofer into a standard stream mp3 radio or do you need an after market radio?

You can with a line convertor with the Rca lead. The standard headunit doesn't have an RCA output. Use the rear speaker wiring for the converter to the amp, run main power from the battery (Fused), and the remote wire to a switched live in the fusebox (I used the towbar slot as I don't have one!). Never needed one so no idea how they work exactly, but looked into it very briefly before replacing my Stream MP3 with my old pioneer headunit. Not sure what the output would be in terms of power as the stream will only put out 5-10w,if that!

Better way would be aftermarket with quadlock and fascia adaptors, but depends what you want from the stereo really...

sounds like a bit of work to strip the rear cables for the amp, i think the best option would be to buy an aftermarket head unit with a sub output on it.. thanks very much anyway mate :)

You'll need an Iso convertor for aftermarket and single/double din conversion kit too, and run a switched live to the fusebox as the quadlock doesn't have it. Took me about 30mins from start to finish, including running my amp cables through. I bought a Connects2 kit (which some slate) which does the job and cost me less than £20 all in, and a fuse piggyback for the fusebox which was £1.something...all from eBay.

Aftermarket also brings things like USB into the car, but you'll lose the Cd changer and armrest Aux socket too.
