DAB Aerial live wire

Featured Replies

Hi guys just fitted a new DAB head unit from a MK5 golf... I think.

All fitted no worries. Just need to know what wire to connect the DAB aerial to? Needs to from the ignition? So live when key is in. Can anyone help?

Also when turned on the stereo says VW... Not a big issue, but can it be made to say Skoda?

Thanks in advance

Tom

It's an RCD510 if that makes any difference.

No power required unless you have a strange aerial.

I got a kinetic from dabonwheels, plugged in one cable and all has been good :)

The aerial I have defo requires power. It has the normal DAB aerial plug, a live and can earth.

No DAB aerial I've seen on a VW DAB unit has required power. The DAB aerials on both my Octavias have been straight into the back of the head unit. I'm not sure of the consequences of a powered aerial plugged into a non-powered aerial receiver.

This may be better asked in the ICE section.

Oh, I see you've already asked there too.

I'm wondering if it's because it's aftermarket jobber...? Both the DAB aerials for sale in Halfrauds had power feeds. It does nothing without power. No stations received.
