dribbling down my rear window

Featured Replies

My old Mondeo had a gap between the roof and the tailgate, so that any water from the roof would pour into the channel around the tailgate, onto the rear bumper, and onto the ground. This meant that at any speed over about 30, even in very heavy rain, my rear window stayed clear

My octavia's tailgate seal fits tightly to the roof, so that rain water from the roof runs down the rear window, and is...mildly annoying.

The rubber is chamfered on each side, so water in the roof channels pour 'under' the tailgate, but water from the centre three quarters of the roof just streams down the glass.

The seal looks a bit like this:-

Anyone else found this?

Yep, but I find it helps to keep the rear screen clean!

Having had the Octy II Estate before, the hatch is much better, as the estate just covers the rear glass in road grime the second you drive off and I used to be forever using the rear wash to keep it clean. All I seem to need to do on the hatch is an occasional rear wipe, I have hardly had to use the rear wash.

I know what you mean about the Mondeo - Just about every hatch I've had once you've cleared the rear screen and are moving you get nothing on the rear screen.  With the Octy I get the same as you which means having to wipe it while driving which is frankly annoying when you dont need to on other cars

at least its not just me then.

I suppose it is a bit annnoying, i keep telling myself that i should just trim a small amount off the rubber seal, but then tell myself to stop being daft and just live with it.

Now i'll just keep telling myself, like Andy said, its just free screenwash :)
