Puddle lights staying on permanently?

Featured Replies

Anyone else had the problem where the puddle lights stay on permanently after locking the car?

I came out of the supermarket last night to find the car sat there with the puddle lights still on, some 20-30mins after I locked it.

When I got home and parked up on the drive it did the same - half an hour later the puddle lights were still on.

Unlock the car, lock it again and they go out after a few seconds like they should.

Not on a mk3 as I have a mk2 but had similar. Every now and then I park up at night and the car gets confused and leaves things on...the main one with my mk2 is the back lighting to window switches sometimes stays on and I have to unlock/relock to clear it.

Looks like glitches are on the mk3 too.

I think glitches is an understatement on the Mk III - more like riddled with bugs!

The mad thing though Andy is how it's particular cars that have lots of bugs while others have none, it's well weird.

Yeah, I've had that before, not noticed recently, but obviously less of an issue in the summer as usually home before lighting up time. Mines also MY13 like yours so might be an early build issue.

Yep, unlucky MY13!

Mine often does it, I always wait to see them go out,

if they stay on I just unlock & lock it again, does the trick, mine's an early mk3 too.

I put it down to a micro switch that the folding mirrors must activate, spec of dust of something.

I've had the cornering fogs not working/working/not working scenario on a number of occasions.

That said; my MkII Octy's bluetooth module needed to be unplugged (from under the seat) to re-boot on more than one occasion - and the CH/LH lights would stay on after locking the car for well over the 30 seconds........

Modern technology, eh?

It is yet another fault to add to my still open case with SUK that started with them removing the dash to repair damage to the loom from the factory.

So far I am 1 years additional warranty to the good, by the time I finish with them it will be significantly more than that.

You shouldn't sell a product for £20k+ if the software is riddled with bugs ..........................

Do Skoda know that you have made many changes to the original software I mean are the VCDS changes visible to them logged? I have zero issues with my car.

Any changes made to my car (which are very few actually) have had nothing to do with the faults I have experienced.

They are visible to them, if they bother to look, and not once have they mentioned them, and my car has been hooked up to the factory for investigation of the Start Stop issue.

Apart from the physical replacement of a fuel pump (hissing) and repair to the wiring loom damaged during manufacture, every other fault has been resolved with a software update - Columbus not displaying DAB logos, Start Stop Error, TPMS Error.

The Columbus wasn't coded correctly from the factory either, it didn't display the embedded speed limit data from the maps, but I cured that one for them as after 2 visits they didn't know how to fix it, so I let them know what the coding needed to be to fix it!

I guess the updates that you have made are no different than the dealer doing it themselves. Seems strange why your car s/w should be different to others not experiencing the same symptoms. Hardware faults I can understand being associated with the car but s/w should be common?

My car was registered early April 2013 for the launch weekend - I seem to have early versions of the software on every module.

I did ask them to just update everything to the latest version, but apparently I have to wait for something to go wrong before they update the software. Absolute madness as the car has been riddled with software bugs and I have to evidence the fault, argue the toss, and log with SUK to get anything done.

I have taken to videoing everything on my phone as I don't care if they can't replicate the fault - I'll provide them with a timestamped video evidencing the fault.

Todays fault was the Columbus not doing any Navigation announcements at all, despite the volume being set to 17 and it being set to Comprehensive Navigation Announcements.

So, one more to add to the list for when it next goes in.

Have you updated the Columbus maps yourself?  If not, I'm curious as to whether that would fix things... i.e. does the update include any sort of firmware / software updates, or is it purely a data update?

Crazy, why can't they just admit there are obviously faults with the car (fully documented and recorded FFS) and work with you to get them fixed?

Maps have been updated 3 times now.

There is nothing on the map downloads other than maps and speech files - no firmware, Gracenote etc. etc.

They are doing, but as they fix one fault I come across 2 more. As LeonBlue said in another thread 'prototype' springs to mind .......

SUK are being very good, but it means repeated trips to the dealers, a manual Rapid as a loaner, cost in fuel & inconvenience etc. etc. plus ever increasing loss of faith in the vehicle as I am expecting something else to go wrong every week.

And you want to buy another?

I think I already mentioned that my puddle lights stay on too on another thread, just reaffirming it here in case in helps your case Andy.
