dash /hid problem

Featured Replies

Bit of a weird one.. I recently changed my dip beam hid kit. Ever since when I turn on the dipped beams the display in the dash, clock, mpg, millage etc goes blank. Just the numbers not the background light.

The only difference in the kit is that the new one is 55w compared to the old one being 35w.

Is there any way I can prevent this happening? Would powering the ballast via a relay make any difference?

Might do? Seems like you're pulling too much juice!

Just buy hid cancellers mine did the same now works a treat

Yea take the HID's out and bin them. Then buy some proper bulbs made for your lamps.

Cheers. Had you a 35w or 55w kit?

Hids are the proper bulbs for my lamps ;)

I had same issue, cancellation unit did naff all, i also get interference on the radio, im going to rewire the lights one night so the power feed just flicks a relay and give the bulbs there own power supply

I can only assume they are somehow maybe shorting something together.

Do your number plate lights work? If not it will be the fuse for them. Fuse 36

Only seeing this now..

I have led bulbs in number plate lights. They work. How would they affect the numbers in the display of the dash not working sometimes?

The dash lights work on the same fuse as the number plate lights

but the dash lights are working perfect... just sometimes when I switch on the lights the numbers disappear from the displays on the dash
