Vrs tsi real mpg

Featured Replies

Just filled up my petrol vrs for the first time and worked out what I was actually getting to the gallon. 26.9mpg!!!!!.

Done 302 miles and put 51 litres in the tank to fill it up which is 11 gallon. I have driven the car conservatively in normal mode. Also thought that the tank only held 50litres max so am puzzled as to why I managed to put 51 litres in it.

What are other petrol vrs owners actually getting to the gallon working out your consumption manually.

So much for the skoda brochure alledging 36mpg about town which is the vast majority of my driving style.

My average is 26.7mpg over 2100 miles. Lowest tank was 23mpg and highest was 30mpg.. My miles are mostly around town, but when I do get on the motorway 40mpg is easily achoevable @ 70..

Live in the Wiltshire countryside but do a mix of town, motorway and rural. Average after 9000 miles is consistently 36 mpg  . Good ,RELATIVELY LEGAL long drive (200) recently ,mainly M4 with then dual carriageway with some A and B. 41.5mpg. All done on Sainsbury's Super Unleaded 97 RON.

This trip was done in Eco mode (for a change). However, the 36 mpg is done in Normal mode. Very rarely use anything but Normal.

Feel pretty happy about that sort or return.

Yours will improve as engine loosens up but town traffic will take it's toll.

Do you drive in Eco in Town?

If your car is new the engine will take time to loosen up re the mpg.

My long term average over 8k miles is just under 39mpg with my best on a good run of 46.7mpg and I have to admit, I like a few spirited blasts here and there. This is verified by brim to brim calc and not the trip computer although it has proved to be quite accurate.

I have the DSG and if I drive within the speed limits and use normal mode plus coast a bit I always achieve over 43mpg on my runs of which are mostly mixed driving.

As Keith has mentioned, town driving and TSI VRS, not a great mix, needs a blast or two on the motorway!

On another note, I was reading a review in AE where they were testing 1.6tdi's, can't remember the makes, however they were meant to achieve around 80mpg and most of them over 500 miles of mixed driving did just over 40mpg!!

I started around 26mpg. Now approx 28+ with only 750 miles on clock. Am hoping it rises slightly

Surely you choose to get a vRS for the looks, feel, performance etc. Why even think about mpg ?

It is like a 1.6tdi owner being concerned about 0 to 60 times.

It's all about being a demanding owner and setting the bar high in all areas of performance.

Sorry, have to disagree here, some people like me want a car that can do all things well and as such want both performance and economy to be quite good, hence why I went for the VRS TSI.

If I could afford it, I'd have a TDI for work and a snarling 325bhp VRS sitting on my drive,.....but, I can't :-(,...although APR may soon be able to help me with the 325bhp snarling VRS :-)

Thanks for the replies, I use the stop start option in normal mode but haven't used Eco mode yet in town. I will use normal mode for another tank full to see if anything changes then try Eco mode for a tankful to see if this makes any difference. I am more than happy with the car overall it's just the car manufacturers quoted mpg about town as 36mpg which is disappointing at present. I did expect about 5mpg less than quoted figure but not 9mpg less. I hope this improves over time, also choose the petrol as the diesel has dpf and guessed that it would not suit my driving mostly about town.

I have a 1.6tdi at the moment (not through choice) and I can confirm 0-60mph is done in minutes rather than seconds..... :-)

I think it's all down to driving style and conditions.

My worst so far was on friday which was heavy Central London traffic.

My best was also the same day getting over 47mpg which included heavy traffic getting out of London and then lots of stop/start on the m6.

Wow, 47.72mpg over 232 miles. My manual TSI will just about achieve that at a constant 65mph in 6th on an empty road. Where did you find a slope that long to drive down? Very impressive.

Cruise control set to 68mph. I was shocked at the fill up too!

No slopes needed with the TSI DSG, my best over a tankful has been 46.7mpg with a fair few spurts of fun thrown in. Great engine and proving to be very economical too which is just an added bonus,..

My VRS TSI is 8500 miles in and my average tank is giving me 32mpg. Most of that is duel carriageway with lots of roundabouts, did a 100 mile round trip a few weeks ago, all motorway and got 40.
