Little bit gutted, first trip to dealer?

Featured Replies

So, my VRS TSI has 8k miles on the clock and has so far been absolutely faultless, however my drivers seat in one small patch about 1.5 inch square is fraying ever so slightly compared to absolutely every other seat in the car which still look like brand new seats.

So, my question is, whilst it's on low miles and only 8 months old, do I push for a replacement under warranty or am I likely to be told, fair wear and tear??

It's also worth pointing out I am mega fussy,  however don't want it to materialise in to something worse and miss the opportunity to claim for it.

Your thoughts guys?

Got some pics to compare?

But either way - what's the harm in asking for a replacement? They can only say no...

The fraying doesn't come out in the pics and to be honest looks worse depending on the sun light.

Will save it for a sunny day before taking in to the dealer, like you say, there's no harm in asking,....

I have a feeling there is a "de-bobbling" thing you can do.  I'd think they might argue its wear and tear if not hugely noticeable.

I tend to agree that they'll put in down to fair wear and tear, it's just odd that it's in the one area and no where else in the car despite the frequent use the other seats get.

Weather looks ok for rest of the week so will pick my day and hope the sun shining on it amplifies the problem enough and if that doesn't work, it will be the de bobbling thingy for me,..

Is it where a rivet on a pair of jeans might catch as you get in and out?

Trim (including upholstery) is only covered for 6 months isn't it?

Nope, mainly shorts and suit trousers worn,...

Typically that will just be my luck with the car now being 8 months old, will still try though,..

Yep - I may be wrong but they tend to try and wriggle out of trim and upholstery issues.

How's your mileage? If it's low for 8 months you could easily argue the cover should still apply.

8k

sounds similar to my passenger seat, you can only see it in the light and from the drivers seat. Went back to the dealers Friday as I've only had the car a week and they are replacing it. its worth taking it in to see what they say.

UPDATE,

Took the car in to Westover Skoda today, they had a good look at the seat and even noticed where the seat was fraying elsewhere that I hadn't noticed, they've agreed to replace with no quibbles what so ever, hoping to have it done Thursday this week, well pleased with service so far.

Glad to hear it. Interesting as well, as I walked away from Westover as the pre-sales was SOOO poor (and many others have felt the same it seems). Maybe they make up for it in post-sales...

My vRS has done 4500 miles and the drivers seat looks like this already.... What would you people do?
