Hope this Veichle will be in the Briskoda Defence force

  • Have to say, one downside is I now understand why they don't call it an estate. Because it's not.  Must be why they came up with "Avant". The boot "headroom" is practically not existant as it's got

Yeah still quite expensive I assume due to the sensors and software etc

Does it use infrared sensors or somethin?

I guess front parking sensors are just coming in really arent they.

So itll be a few years before this adaptive cruise comes down aha

ACC is the first step towards driverless cars (aka train carriages) yet even though I don't like that ultimate expression of the technology, I find I think ACC is cool. #innergeekisstrong

(Here endeth the statement of a man who has ordered an Octavia with the full-on PARKME-MOFO)

Yup I think it's infrared!

Toxicvrs,

recently you were saying you were have trouble getting insurance on a 1.2 Clio because it had a towbar.

?

Is there no issues with your bosses insurance with you driving at 17 YO, what sort of excess applies when you are driving the S5 ?

It's the same here.

When I had it, I could in theory let any of the minibus drivers use the new GT-R.

The standard policy excess of £350 would apply.

I kept the key in my pocket at all times. :D

I don't blame you a minibus and a gtr have slight performance differences ;) I was surprised when the boss said do me a favour and pick it up!

I remember on top gear Jeremy was testing a car with adaptive cruise control and you could adjust the distance from the car in front. Ranging from the recommended safe distance or the 'coq' Audi distance as he described it

It's radar, which is expensive, but fairly simple.

Sends a pulse on a certain freq, that gets reflected off the vehicle in front, the recieved pulse is measured for time taken, and processed to measure whether the vehicle is going slower, faster or maintaining their speed. Obviously all works at the speed of light ~

Very old technology being adapted for new vehicles. I would imagine it being common place in the next 5 years.

Mind you it's been about since at least 2002 on Mercs!

I also found that in my A4 (and two colleagues A6s) that the steering / seat / pedal arrangement is not straight, the 3 are out of alignment with each other. I had no end of back problems as a result of driving my A4. Colleagues also suffered with the A6.

I think on the A3, the sport suspension is a bit soft personally.
