Hi there im away from home at the moment...I have a vrs octavia with a dsg box when i was home i couldn't get it in to manual mode with the gear stick..i flicked the gear stick across and tried to get into gear but couldn't. ..what I'm i doing wrong regards John. ..

Where you at a standstill at the time?

 

You would go to "D" then across to manual. The dash display changes from "PRNDS 1" to "123456 1" with the current gear (1) highlighted.

 

It will only allow you to use certain gears at any given engine and road speed. So you would only be able to select 1st gear at a standstill for instance.

That's strange.

 

Check what the dash display shows. Make sure it's not flashing or anything and that it show a gear to the side.

Do you mean you couldnt actually move the gearstick/selector?
