Sad farewell to our Citigo

Featured Replies

The arrival of twin granddaughters has meant that our 15 month old Citigo has had to be changed for a 7 seater Zafira. The Citigo did everything asked of it and in 5,400 miles averaged over 60mpg.

Since taking delivery of the Zafira last Friday we already miss the heated seats, PID and the stop-go technology.

The main consoling point in this new purchase was the fact that Vauxhall are offering a staggering £8,500 discount off the Zafira meaning that we only paid £11,000 for a £19,500 car - truly amazing. We also got £7,000 part ex for the Citigo that originally cost £10,580 so quite an exceptional deal.

I'll still continue to follow this active forum and keep up with everyone's enjoyment of such a brilliant little car.

Cheers for now, Shanco

Sounds like you got an amazing deal!

Best of luck with the Zafira... and the twins lol

so you paid 4500 for a 19500 quid car that better suits the new circumstances!? that is  a fantastic deal!

Great deal. Good luck :)

It seems a very good deal to me.

Just had a quick look at new Zafiras and if I looked at it properly a new one can be had for below £11k.

I'm in the same position, 3 grandkids need to travel in the rear of the Citigo, no can do.

Looks like I'm looking for something that will accomodate, but it won't be a 7 seater as much as I like them.

This Zafira isn't REALLY a £19,500 car, though....because they never sell at that price. A case of wildly inflating the list price, so customers believe that they are getting a fantastic deal....

You are right Oxenboxn' Vauxhall have been discounting for some time now. However, in July's What Car their target price is £15221 so I still reckon I got a cracking deal for £11000 including £275 for paint.

Compared to Skoda I believe that Vauxhall still have a long way to go as their attention to detail is not the same. Our Zafira came with a lop sided rear number plate and the screws attaching it without screw caps. Upon enquiring I was told that the dealership never fits screw caps !!

We've now put in child seas so hopefully will be out and about this weekend.

Whatever they say the full RRP is, it's still a cracking price for a 7 seat brand new car.

I still can't believe the price myself and had to check re the post above, I'm still not tempted to go get one though as I'll just be the grandkids taxi.

Shanco...you're spot-on...a lot of vehicle for that amount and I'm sure that it will serve your needs well.. I just wish some manufacturers would be more realistic in their list prices; they know that nobody pays anywhere near list price!

I dont have a problem with the size etc of the 7 seater type cars.

I have a problem with those back seats after i saw the crash testing they did on 5th gear..

IE where the 2 dummies in the back row were killed by the impact of a truck...

head injuries from a direct impact from the truck through the back window......

Kinda put me off forever!!!!!

You might be suprised how close to the rear screen your rear seat passengers heads are in the Citygo.

I bet there won't be much in it compared to most 7 seaters.

I know there's not much space in the citygo either, but when they did the testing, the back windows in some of them 7 seaters looked to be doubling up as the head rests.......

Show the deal to their parents then...... They can ferry you around ;)

They don't drive :wonder: hence it's grandads taxi if they want to all go out together.

I got my daughter sorted with a car, she passed her test earlier this year and she lives miles away and 2 kids to ferry around.

My son can't drive, can't afford to really so I ferry them around when needed. It's not bad really but annoying now that there's an extra one in the family and only 2 seats for them in the rear of the Citigo.
