Rear brake change tool

Featured Replies

Hiya folks!

I was hoping someone could point me into the right direction of what piston rewind tool to use to replace my rear discs and pads. I recently visited machine mart to see if i could pick one up, though there was a right and left tool.. no idea which one i needed so decided to try halfrauds..£32.99!! No thanks... Any other cheaper options?

Fabia vrs 06

EBay. Or use a pair of long needle nose pliers

I got mine from Machine Mart...!

I got one from halfords, careful unpicked the staples from the packed, used it, cleaned, put it back in the pack and put the staples back. Then returned it and got a refund as I "didn't need it" :D

Might ask Halfords why they would charge more than double for a simple tool! £33 is taking the ****. £20-£25 if you needed it like NOWWWW. But £33 is worth internet humiliation and derision. :)

+1 I have this tool. The round disc is reversible, my 1.9TDI uses the wider spread pins to lock in place, I don't know if its the same for VRS. Inverted, with a piece of heavy card in front, i use it on the front piston too. That universal kit is cheap, thought they were two or three times that price.

Personally I'd just get this if it's for DIY use.

3 year warranty, both LH and RH threads with lots of adapters for different size calipers.

You can't go wrong for £17.

Last I looked those kits were in the £20s and I'd have to get them via Drop ship etc. Individual left/right rewind tools were around £10 at the time via DSO.

The cheapest individual tools I've seen are Bergen or US PRO. The Laser 1314 has a hex end to the shaft. So can be spannered/driven Rather than relying on the handle.
