Not much to update, more thoughts.

Changed brakepads for EBC Yellowstuff. They are OK but not as amazing and I thought. Pedal modulation isn't great but I guess that's down to the compound.

Still tempted to go for a set of Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's but not sure on what width. Thinking of fitting a 215 tyre to them and also sticking 15mm spacers on all round, fitting a stainless catback exhaust (from somewhere) and fitting a RARB eventually.

My commute as of the 12th will now be considerably shorter, going from 105 miles round trip to 15 miles. Even with new rent I'm actually able to save money compared to the old fuel bill. I'm not sure how long I'll keep the car but will be until next Spring at least. But I want to spend about a grand on these last few mods just to see what the final potential of the vRS Estate is. If I do that and see what's the most I can get out of it then I'll be happy. In it's current form, even on Eibach's it's at it's limit so I need to change a few things to increase this. This will be the last few mods I do as the next car will have 280bhp+ I just don't know what yet.

Any advice on wheels and spacers would be great.

hhhmmm not sure whats wrong with the pads, they seemed as good as standard to me on normal driving, then better on track.... I did get mine second hand though, they come with a "coating" of different material for bedding in.... maybe its that .... but deffo shouldnt loose feel!

get the RARB, best bang for buck mod... did you read Jabs comments after we did a back to back in the national meet thread?

I'm still waiting for Sparkly to get off his arse and send it!

The Pads are fine but just take getting used to. It could be because I was so used to the standard pads being crap I used them less. Now I'm pushing the new ones harder I'm noticing more.

I'm really starting to consider wheels now. Losing some unspring weight, even if it is only 2kg a wheel should make a good difference. I bought new wheels for my road bike which saved 1kg overall and the difference was unbelieveable

100% this.

Being a mountain biker, I know like yourself what the difference lighter wheels make. So on a car where we have x4 of them, in theory it should make even more of a difference!

With wheels it's not just the overall weight that saves time, light wheels take less energy to roll and slow down too.

Any advice on wheels and spacers would be great.

A lighter set of wheels will make a noticeable difference to the feel of the car but if you are going to add spacers then the weight savings will be lost. Try getting the right offset rather then what is pretty. My wheels are 17x7.5 with a 36mm offset. With 215/40R17 tyres the wheels sit flush with the guards at the front. Try googling offset calculators and have some fun.

Will be the last post here on this car. All suspension back to stock and in their respective for sale threads including Thule 120cm bars. Ads on PH and other places updated and I'll give it until the end of the month to see if there is any interest.
