Fabia VRS Engine cover

Featured Replies

Hi,

My wife picked up her 2012 Vrs last Monday and is, so far at least, over the moon with it. On checking the fluid levels I noticed that there is no plastic engine covering at all, I thought there was supposed to be plastic covering over the block? From a photo I've seen it appears there should be, can anyone advise on whether this is the case, and if so, where I might be able to get a hold of one?

It leads me to wonder why the cover hasn't been put back by whoever removed it.

Also noticed, and this is a bigger concern I would think, that the wee car was taken in for its second service at one year old to a local Tyre Service garage in the previous owners area. We didn't have access to any of this information when we bought the car, we were told it had a full history which I suppose it does. Just a bit concerned about what exactly has been done, not done or indeed modded that could affect the remaining manufacturers warranty.

Thanks for any advice.

Where did you buy it from?

What Warranty do you have?

(Remainder of the Skoda 3 Years if they accept the Servicing Record?)

*Worth looking at buying a 2 year Skoda Approved Extended Warranty, that is provided by Car Care Plan,

or you can buy direct from them'.*

But check all outstanding issues if any were completed by Skoda, so that no reason for a Warranty Company

to knock anything back in the future.

??

Is it Going OK, Happy with it?

It should have a Plastic Cover & that will be easy enough to get.

Wanted Ad on this Forum, E Bay, Gumtree, Breakers, Dealership as a last resort.

As to the Full Service History.

What Mileage has it done now?

Does it have a Skoda 1 year/10,000 mile Stamp,  & the Tyre & Exhaust place 2 year/20,000 mile Stamp?

2nd Service is an Inspection Service,

& you can maybe get Skoda Checks done,

Get the Pollen Filter Changed,

3 year, is a Minor Service, & Break Fluid Changed.

PS

Is it a car First Registered in Scotland?

If you give 'Skoda UK Customer Services' a call tomorrow they can tell you what History they have for Skoda Servicing

& any Warranty History for work done up to now.

Is it a car First Registered in Scotland?

Hi George,

Bought the car from Arnold Clark Ford Linwood near Paisley.

Was told the car had the remainder of the manufacturers warranty, car first registered on 03/04/12 although I'm not sure where it was first registered, something tells me Grimsby area but will need to check to confirm. Registration begins KY12 so that might give someone a bit better clued up than me on registration origins an idea of where it was registered. I'll also check the wee books that came with it and let you know. Previous owner lived around Paisley area.

The car is driving really well, no knocks, bangs or noises that I can tell of and seems really smooth. But I would like to have the extended warranty due to reading about some of the problems encountered with the CAVE engine, which having checked I can confirm our one is a Cave. Thanks for the advice on where to get this, are you able to give a rough idea of the cost involved of an extended warranty? I'm keeping a watchful eye out for signs of oil consumption but so far so good.

I haven't checked with Skoda to see if they will accept the servicing record but I will do that. The first service was done by Skoda dealer in Linwood, second by a garage in Johnstone, but seems to be a Tyre Service place rather than anything to do with Skoda, which is I guess where any problems with Skoda accepting the servicing record will come in. It does have a Skoda stamp for the first and other garage stamp for the second. Mileage is now 21500 or thereabouts and has just been serviced prior to me buying by Arnold Clark Ford Linwood.

I put the vin number into the skoda online tool and there are no outstanding recalls or anything like that for the wee car so I'm hoping all is good on that front. I will I think need to check with Skoda however to see if they have actually had it in for anything previously?

I'll have a look around the various sites then to see if I can get a hold of an engine cover, with a bit of luck there will be a few out there. As it transpires, I also need to look for a set of fitted car mats for the car, and for a spare wheel kit so I'm going to be busy I think.

Thanks for all your advice, very much appreciated.

Richard

ps. Feel terrible for not having said this before, but I wish I had a video of me and my son's first drive in the car on the way home from the garage, it was just out and out laughter that this wee car could pull the way it does! Guy had told us not to worry about S gear, just stick to P, R and D and we would be fine lol. Think we went about 500 yards onto the M8 and found the S gear....lord almighty it was fun.

KY is Northampton (mine's KS and came from Milton Keynes - also Northampton-ish area), so could be anywhere in that region.
