green and blue block are for the stereo and I think the twin wire with the black connector might be for the ash tray light but not 100% sure, and as for the other one no idea lol

Pretty sure.

1st pic is wiring for cigarette lighter & ash tray illumunation.

2nd pic is wiring from the rear of the headunit for the CD multichanger.

Sorry I knew the black connector was for the ash tray light (that doesn't work) I should have said the 4 grey and white wires not sure what they are for and the plugs out the back of the CD player I thought they were for the standard head unit but thought it might have been for a amp or something not a cd changer

Also how bad are the speakers on the mk1 octavia please there is no base at all :(

Also the glove box light doesn't work either

99% sure the green and blue went to the 6CD multichanger in the boot - standard on the vRS

Fuses?

The first pic is the ashtray bulb connector - special order bulb from dealers if you want one.

the second pic - the rubber sealed wires id for the multi changer i believe - its hiding in my dash too, along with a clipped wire for the AC that i dont have.

blue and black blocks - headunit, tho it looks like somone butchered yours at some point?

oh and btw.... that special bulb cost me €12 for 2 of them...

ill get the part no. for you later on.

Ah cheers but why would the glove box light not work either even though the bulb is fine ?

Take the glovebox out and check the light is connected. There are only 4 or 5 torx screws to remove.

Done that as well and it still isn't working

Checked the fuses and the switch? Is there power to the light?

357919243D 85H is the bulb you want for the ashtray light.

Id check the fuses again after a popping a new bulb in the glove box.

The cigarette lighter wouldnt work in my car from day one - fuse fine.

then i got a new lighter unit, still no joy.

checked the fuse again and it had blown... swapped fora  new one working fine since!

i dont know how all that ended up bold...

Checked the switch it's fine buld is fine will

Check the fuse tomorrow as I'm at work now would that be why the ash tray one wouldn't work either ?

if they loop off the same fuse, yeah, could well be..
