DSG oil change

Featured Replies

Don't get me started on Theresa may and the current conservative government!

Yeah we got the £250 good condition bonus and a portion of the upfront payment we paid due to our car choice. I understand the choices made as the disability benefits system has been mugged off by fake claims for a long time, I know people who get a motability car who don't need it or in all honesty require it and then there is us who have a son with multiple disabilities from birth, lifetime illnesses which cannot get any better but due to the DLA thinking my son doesn't meet the night time care element now it was cut. Basically they don't believe we need to care for him through the night. Even though he is incontinent and needs changing through the night, has learning difficulties, behavioral difficulties etc and multiple other difficulties with mobility and mental disabilities.

They turned down our initial reconsideration and now we have had to take it to court. Here is hoping we are treated fairly and honestly, my son has more disabilities than many people who still claim a car etc. However I still have all this used car stress in the meantime.

I think we got a bit off topic :D

  • Lads, unless your car is still in warranty, I wouldn't get to hung up on the 40,000 interval. My DSG has over 645,000kms and I think it has only had 3 oil/filter changes. I replaced the filter in betw

True a few thousand km won't make a huge difference. But regarding the ploy to sell auto transmission oil, it's much more likely to be a ploy on the part of VAG to avoid expensive (for them) warranty

20 or more years ago when i had no Disability Benefits over 20 years after being an Amputee so no Motability car even though i had several times before from 1977 i went through the Appeals as far as a High Court Judge at an Appeal in Edinburgh taking the Secretary of Social Security to court.

The CAB helped me, the lovely lady was not only a Ex DHSS employee see was a lawyer.

They prepared & were going to fight my case over various points of law.

That would have then changed much for those similar to me.

We went through all this, went to the hearing and the Government / DHSS never defended their case.  They crapped themselves.

I was awarded 3 years benefit, back dated 18 months and 18 months to run, so could not join the Motability Scheme.

18 Months later i was awarded a Life Award.

13 months later a Periodic Inquiry was started, benefit suspended, car had to be returned.

Instead of an Appeal i asked for a Review, the CAB started a case against them, and again i got a Life Award.

So soon i expect a PIP Assessment and to lose and not get PIP.

Back on subject.

I have had about every available Auto, CVT, Servo Clutch etc in the UK at some point,

Luckily my mate is probably the best Automatic Specialist in the country and i have needed him buying

some used cars with stinkers of boxes or that had faults. Renault & Ford being those costing the greatest to fix.

DSG Wet & Dry clutch boxes a treat to get fixed compared to a Durashift Ford, or early Renaults.

It's disgusting what they are doing. Again I know people claim for bad backs or for being overweight and I am not judging but some cases are more clear cut and obvious that the award should be in place and rarely need revisiting. Particularly in your case and my sons. I hope you continue to get what you clearly are entitled to. I did a lot of reading on this and apparently the DLA representatives (who mostly are outsourced to look at the claims) have a target of rejecting 80% of applications and renewals, then if you go to court there is a 50%-60% success rate in appealing. Seems to be a tactic hoping people won't bother with a court appeal. Not sure how true that is.

Just had another quick drive of the car, so basically I can feel when the car changes gears, like a shift in power/engine pull. I have never felt it in the 9 weeks I have owned the car. It brings me to a question, if the temperature outside is 4c or lower could this make the car a little more noticeable as oil is cold and not up to temperature etc yet. Mostly the DSG oil I am referring to really as that seems to be the issue. I have driven the car previously in these temperatures and didn't notice it but maybe I am subconsciously so anxious about the car I am looking for issues which don't exist.

Unless it is turbo related which I know there is an issue but would the turbo be kicking in at low rpm and between 1st gear and 4th?
