I have put the jack, rattle gun, torque wrench etc in the boot so feel free to travel light and utilise my gear, not too far for me to travel unlike yourself.

  • I'll bring a tow rope just incase it's too wet for mine without a little help

  • I should be up for this. See how the ring trip goes in September first.

From what I can see from the weather, it should be pretty good from about 11am / noon tomorrow.

Top man, I have my jack ready to dump in the boot, but it would be much easier to leave it behind.

When I was looking earlier it was saying 4pm onwards would be clear and sunny :D

Leave it mate, I have all the loot in, foot pump and bits and bats I usually carry, full snap on service case too, should be well covered if we need anything, might even put VCDS in.

Well, when I say "good" I am meaning "dry" not necessarily sunny :D  Should mean that RSR/888s should become the better rubber again.

I'm all for being optomistic, but **** me, you really are hoping (more chance of getting the 6 numbers on the euro I think)

Best of luck guys.

Sorry I couldn't make it my car is back at the garage.

Well what a day, cold extremely wet and loads of surface water on the track, Cossie was having a ball power sliding his Octy through Old Hall he almost ran out of talent but caught it before the impact, so he had the embarrassing chat with the marshals, difficult to hide when your car is camouflaged in grass!

Thanks for travelling up today Cossie, once the issues were sorted I am sure you enjoyed it.

Golf went well, also had some power slides going on but not ploughing, videos to follow.

  :@  I think my black Vue has died, not one second of footage from today!   :wall:  :(

That's a shame. That's usually my problem with the black vue :)

Hope you had a great day though :)

really good mate, very wet with loads of standing water so this resulted in lots of red flags!  We must have seen 6 cars wrecked and a few more bent but drivable, Golf was great in the wet with smooth power slides, looking forward to the next one.

Yeh not the best start to the day for me, managed to lock my keys in the car at 6am, so had to wake the mrs to get the spare lol, then on the way up to Oulton the Octy decided it didn't want to do Oulton again, and after going through a rather long stretch of 50mph average speed camera's decided it was going to make some strange knocking noises and make a banging sensation on the bottom of the car, under the drivers seat. It was so bad I pulled over onto the hard shoulder twice to check it out (couldn't see anything wrong), I then stopped again at the services and checked all round, but again couldn't find anything wrong, then once off the motorway at slow speeds it felt and sounded like it was from the front of the car, so stopped a 4th time to check engine mounts, dogbone mount and strut tops, but once again no problems found.

Once at Oulton, I jacked it up and found it was o/s/r wheel bearing had failed and litterally fell to bits.

Thankfully Eurocarparts delivered a new bearing to me at Oulton, but said it wouldn't get there until around 12, so in the meantime I managed to drop my iPhone 6 on the garage floor and smash the ****in screen :x

So the bad start to the day didn't get any better.

Thankfully ECP turned up when they said they would and brought the right part, bearing fitted during the lunch break so managed to get in 4 sessions in the afternoon.

Was VERY wet and slippery, I ended up leaving the vreds on the front and the 595's on the rear, the turn in wasn't too bad, but the arse end was errrm loose :p

1st session was just a warm up to make sure the car was ok after changing the bearing, and all was good, had a couple of little slides but nothing major. An Evo 7 came right up my arse so I let him pass, he then aquaplaned about 10 seconds later, right in front of me and ended up stopped in the middle of the track facing the barrier (he loaded the car up on the trailer after that, so don't know if he damaged something).

2nd session, I was just getting into the groove of it, and the backend broke loose going through the 1st corner, managed to get the car 90° 1 way, then caught it and it went 90° the other way, caught it again (kept the power on), but then it flicked back the other way again and I thought I managed to catch it again, but the rear wheels got on the wet grass, and that was it, dragged off backwards towards the barrier, I managed to do a 720 I think on the grass, before grabbing the handbrake to stop me hitting the barrer with the o/s/f wing, it was damn close (pretty sure I wouldn't have got my hand in the gap), but thankfully got away with it :peek:

Got the good old black flag, and was told to be careful as I am now being watched.

Car looked great covered in mud and grass

3rd and 4th sessions consisted of more sliding on turn 1, but thankfully managed to catch it each time.

I think harry's laptimer missed the spin, but i'll sort the rest of the vids over the weekend and post them up.

Sounds like an eventful day. Glad you guys came home smiling with cars in 1 piece :)

You can power slide an Octavis.....    for Russ   keep watching, he is up in front

1st corner slides

I wish my camera had worked, I have trawled through loads of clips today to see if I am on anybody else clips but to no avail, I will have to wait for the still images, they all get posted to open track days on Flickr then you can down load for free.

Cracking vids Cossie, didn't see the sideways parked Evo in there though.

Nah it missed that lap.

It doesn't auto start on the outlaps as you don't cross the startline, and if you don't cross the finish line when you come in, it deletes the lap, hence it didn't catch my off either :(

I see, I have asked on the open track FB page to see if anybody caught the golf on camera, I had a comment back "Yes, when you were black flagged"   I don't think so, not me pal.

I hope to find something and I have asked Father Christmas for a new camera for xmas.

Not sure what to go for though, GoPro is the size of a toaster, will have to do my homework

The very last second of this clip proves I was there  ;)   after the MK 2 Escort with Diamond Millington howling past  :p
