Do you need to take the door cards off to remove the exterior door handles? 

 

The well/indent behind the handle on mine is rather scratched and i'd like to wet sand/polish it back into good health. 

 

Does anyone know the handiest way to get these off? Or even better a way to buff in there without taking them off?
