Non Skoda Dealer problems?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Hope I'm still welcome in the land of Skoda (now I'm a fully paid up member of the 'non-Skoda' owning family now :o )

This is really just a quick guage of opinion of all you good folk on here regarding my other half's 9000 mile 1.1L Citroen '04 plate C2. It has developed a high pitched 'squeeky' noise from the from passenger side brakes which is worse after the car has been driven for a while. I took the car along to a local Citroen dealer yesterday who inspected the car and they phoned to tell me the work required was a full clean of the brakes (I presume pads and discs). They also kindly informed me that it was wear and tear and non warrantable and would cost

As said, I think they're trying it on. Did they say what a "brake clean" involved? Personally, I'd be taking the wheel off and having a look for anything like grit caught between the disc and the pad or any scoring on the disc which could suggest something like that. I'd guess it gets worse after being driven for a while as the heat will cause the pads and disc to sit a little closer

Citroen dealers suck! I had three new citoens, and the problems I had with the last one (C2 GT) caused me to go through FIVE!!!! dealers to get it sorted out to my satisfaction. It cost me huge ammounts of money in lost bussiness, and I screamed at citroen UK about it, but they didn't seem to care at all. They just fobbed me off, that's citroen UK, not a dealer! Well they lost a customer, I came to Skoda, and, so far, (one visit to dealer for service) I have no complaints at all! I will also try to convince anyone I meet not to buy a citroen for the crappy customer service mentioned above (I loved the cars, great cars, thought about a C4 VTS... but not with that customer backup....)

I phoned Citroen CS yesterday to be told,' oh, just go to another Citroen dealer and see what they say!' Absolute rubbish IMHO, probably been spoiled with a few years of good Skoda dealer service. The other Citroen dealer is a distance away so the cost in petrol in getting to them only to be potentially told the same thing compared with the cost of just paying my local garage to do the job is quite similar.

Why don't women listen, eh? I told her to get a Fabia..........................

Cheers

Hugh
