Engine Oil light and bonnet catch sensor

Sorry Tina, I forgot that yours is left hand drive. (Fuse holder is the other way up on RHD)

It should be the third one in from the left of the top row of smaller fuses, and should be a 10 amp if the car was before November 2010 built, or 7.5A from then onwards. Not sure why yours is 5 amp?

Mine is November 2010. Should I change it to a 7.5amp Do you think?

Only if it has blown.  As far as I can see, CBZA engines only started getting fitted from March 2010, before that fuse 3 was 5A, but from then on, either 10A, or 7.5A.

Wouldn't be the first time VW-group has managed to publish misleading info though...

Does your Owners Manual have fuse values in it?

Fuse not blown. Unfortunately I didn't get an owners manual with car, the dealer is trying to get it from the previous owner but I'm not hopeful.

I wouldn't normally advise increasing a fuse value, but if you have a spare 7.5A one to try there, and it does happen to make the fault go away, it would certainly be interesting! Seems very unlikely to me, unless there's any sign that the 5 amp one has been getting very hot?

Here's an upside down picture of a CBZA sump, with the position of the level sensor ringed in red, if the fuse is OK, check the wiring near the sensor connector next:

Problem finally solved! Oil sump sensor replaced. Have driven over 100k and no oil light. Thanks for all your help.
