Wheel nut dust cover

Featured Replies

I have had my car now for four months but have never removed a single wheel yet. The wheel nuts have a plastic cover on them. Am i right in thinking there should a tool in the boot to remove them? I cannot find anything in the wheel well to take them off correctly without damaging them.

Use long nose pliers, much easier. There is sometime a little loop of metal with a right angle spike to pull them out next to your locking wheel nut, but i find it a faff.

I know the vRS uses a different wheel design to the Elegance, but I can catch the nut covers with my fingers.

Many thanks for all the replies guys. I have tried with the fingers only method but its quite painful when they have not been touched for quite some time. I will try and order the correct tool for it.

I have the skoda tweezers and for just over a pound to get one no contest.

It makes taking the covers off so easy and fast  .

Where did you get them from if you don't mind me asking?

Order from a Skoda dealer. If you order via the second link above, you will also pay £4.99 postage.

I contacted a Skoda dealership soon after i got the car, having discovered the tweezers were missing.

My car has never had any caps on it, so you could just remove them and not worry about it.  I run with Elegance alloys in the winter, and L&Ks during the summer (which have a deeper hole, so I would imagine getting the caps off would be even harder).

Yep, I took mine out and don't bother any more. The amount of times I take the wheels off means it's not worth it.

Nice second car btw, wanted one for years now...

Pliers will mangle the covers. recommend spendng a quid on the proper tool
