Oil dripping from IC pipework

Featured Replies

Ok so I get back from work today and as I pull onto the drive I notice a couple drops of oil.

So check under the car and the bottom of the intercooler pipe had oil leaking out... I'm guessing this cannot be a good sign. Car is using a bit of oil too. Just under 1ltr in 7k miles...

Going to be the weekend before I can jack it up and get the under trays off.

So what do we think? Turbo oil seal? As far as I know it is the original turbo and this pipework may have never been off...

Have had a bit of a whistle too of late... Maybe a loose pipe?

Car is in 93k miles I have had it for 3 ans a bit months.

Any ideas?

Oh just to add to this other than a bit of a whistle the car is driving fine. No smoke and returning good mpg (around 55mpg)

Other than this oily bottom pipe and using some oil it seems fine (other than my electric window problems! Dam you skoda electrics!!)

Oil in the intercooler pipes is normal :)

It's the crank case breather that causes the issue. Search for 'elephant mod'

My kkk turbo died @ 84k but had started to use more oil for around 3-4 months prior to dying

what was the cause of death do you know? (oil starvation?, oil seal? impeller damage?)

was the car mapped?

I will get the IC pipe off as soon as i can, it is quite oily around all the joins i can see, but it may only be a small amount leaking out...

If oil can get out so can boost. Check the o rings when yiu get a chance. The oe boost pipes do fail from time to time

yea that was my thought exactly, I have got a bit more of a whistle going on at the moment and only when under full boost which adds up to a possible leak, combine that with the oil on the joins and that seems the likely situation!

You can change the pipe seals separately, not necessarily pipe change.

New O rings are about £5 from TPS, but you might find you need to replace a hose

Ok so on my way home I get a might pop and no power... Remove the undertray to find what's in the pic.

Need to replace both these pipes as the metal one is damaged where the circlip is and the rubber one has a split next to the join..

Can someone tell me the part numbers? Or what they are called?

Or link me equivalent?
