I have been reading various posts and it seems that firmware 5270 is out along with V10 maps. Does any one know if this is true as I have been unable to find either.

 

 I have FW 5238 installed so 5270 should not make a lot of difference, I have 7918 maps which I think is V9 ? so would like to update.

Supplementary question on this issue:

Is the route finding software or algorithms part of the Maps of part of the Firmware ?

If firmware anyone noticed any improvement since 3984 ?

I find the routes chosen often perverse and seemed influenced by the very slow average speed it assigns to non-motorways sections, the estimated journey times on cross country routes are usually 30% too high and drops drastically during the journey.

There are three speed settings for calculating journey times.

I have mine on 'Fast' and I seem to gain time on 'A' roads but lose out on motorways (I tend to drive at around 65 for economy and because I'm not usually in a rush) but I do find it reasonably accurate overall (as accurate as any Sat Nav I've tried).

I agree though that some of the route choices are very bizarre at times.

Anyone any ideas on my question ?

v.10 maps have been with VW dealers for a while I believe. That is the only official source of them.
