impressed 0-60 times vrs tsi/ type r

Featured Replies

postman delivered a elm 327 bluetooth scanner off ebay today. bought this on the back of reading a recent post about what they are and do... anyhow calibrated it to my car through the torque app for android. i got 0-60 of 6.2 and another of 6.4 which for a standard vrs on cthe engine thought was a realy good time. i have came from a civic type r ep3 with lsd , induction and cat back exhaust which i thought was quick but totaly different kind of power. the fabia from standstill through the gears upto legal motorway speeds is definately quicker than the type r. but... feel the civic topend from 6th dropping a gear is more responsive? i know they two total different engines and gear box setups which i feel both have Pros and cons. realy enjoying the vrs and its great having low down torque! keeping an eye on oil levels hopefuly its fine but time will tell. thought i would share my experiences. comments welcome

How do i get one of these on my bike?

Honestly. Id love to know (even just a 1 off) what 0-60 i can get. 3.something on paper, but its all down to the rider tbf

no nothing about bikes mate. must be something out there.

Can you post a link to the product type your purchased? Seems like there are many different versions.

Re 60 time, in mine anyway it seems to depend on the 'quality' of the shift 1st-to-2nd a lot, sometimes it shifts harshly then it takes a moment for the power to come back.

Is that because you have TC on?

If the Traction Control detects Tyre Spin it cuts power. or it can cut power.

SKODA says,

"operating principle,

The TCS switches on automatically when the engine is started and then conducts a sel-test. The system monitors speeds of the driven wheels

with the aid of the ABS sensors.. If the wheels are spinning, the force transmitted to the road surface is automatically adapted by reducing the engine speed. he system operates at all speeds."

And there is the XDS as well.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd only trust a Racelogic product.

Which I have if anyone local wants to test their mk2 Fabia VRS for a comparison.

Slightly off topic, but im sure youve tried it... What time did you get in the GTR mate? Haha.

I couldn't get it under 3.2.

Is that the new one? 550 or 470?

520, the one in the middle (MY11).

I never did the MY10 or 14.

I couldn't get it under 3.2.

But think of the fun to be had trying.

Did you see the accident Sir Chris Hoy had in his Nismo GTR at GFOS? Misjudged the corner and slammed the haybales, thankfully he's ok but he says the car has took a sore one.

Yes, I already posted the TV video of it in the general car section. :)

the general consensus is the CTHE is about 190 bhp.... and the the 0-60 is about 6.5 ... so 6.2 sounds a good run.....

how you would compair to your type R has to be difficult , they are SO different.... the supercharger on the vRS puts a big torque spike at about 1,200 revs..... but then type-R probably has better top end pull... but the 7-speed DSG keeps max power on , on full throttle (haven't RR'd my CTHE , but my cave with TMC box gave 200 bhp between 5-7k, and when changing up at 6,500 the 7-speed DSG drops to 5k...... SO max power all the time at full whack makes its better than the stats would suggest!)

Will you have it with you at Blyton Park? Would be interesting to do some runs between different cars in constant conditions perhaps?

Another thing is tyres, external air and road temp and road surface - it's all too easy to light up the wheels so the more grip the better time :)

I used an app (con't remember what it was now) and it was showing 6.5 and 6.75 to 100kph.

I would agree with sharkrider here, the package is worth more than the sum of its parts and punches above what the bhp figures would suggest possible

Yes.

I have a Renaultsport Clio 182 which has some light breathing mods as well as a remap and may actually make a decent stab of making book figures. It's generally regarded as pretty similar to the Ep3 type R's in performance but when I first test drove a Fabia VRS I literally laughed out loud the first time I booted it! Coming from n/a manual cars the power delivery and gearbox made it feel like a runaway roller coaster acceleration wise! The dsg box definitely adds a 3rd dimension to the acceleration of the car.

Even our other car the Yeti 1.2tsi can feel fairly nippy at low speeds and that is much heavier and has a lot less power.
