I've got a rattle!

Featured Replies

Every time the offside rear wheel hits a sharp series of bumps, potholes.

I reckon it's something on the exhaust as it's kind of a tinny sound? Can't see underneath but I suspect the cat heat shield?

It's booked in for the dealer to have a look at tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone else has had similar?

Are the neighbours missing a pet cat?

I'll get my coat..... Taxi to the corner please.

I've not experienced this on the Yeti but your guess would make sense given the tinny nature of the sound from the rear and I had this on a Focus a number of years ago - it was the heat shield above the rear back box - good luck in getting it resolved. :)

This driver had a noise coming from the front of his car. A quick stop by his dealer and the fault was located.

Well that was an odd experience...

At work early this morning so the garage came to collect.

Seeing my car driving off without me felt like it was being stolen!

So, they brought my car back.

Guess what? They couldn't hear the noise I'd reported and blamed it on my wheelchair in the boot, but said they'd checked all the suspension mounts and bolts etc.

Now forgive me, even a basic numpty should realise that a tinny rattle ain't gonna come from any suspension parts! :(

They did tell me about a ruddy great nail in one of the tyres and gave it a wash though.

No surprise that the noise was still there on the way home.

New tyre fitted on the way home tonight as it wasn't repairable. At least the day didn't cost me anything.

You need to drive round with someone sat in the back, who can try and pinpoint where the noise is coming from...

Could try taking everything out of the boot (tools, wheel/compressor etc), plus parcel shelf and the rear seats. See if it's still there - at least you start eliminating things.

My granddaughter has a rattle, and it's driving me nuts.

Tools don't make that noise, no spare wheel and the compressor wasn't in the boot.

The parcel shelf isn't metal so it can't be that.

It definitely coming from outside the car as it's barely audible with the windows up.

I've get a day off Monday so if I have time will go in and see them.

I would say...don't assume anything.

I had a rattle on a previous car that I was convinced was coming from underneath. Eventually I traced it to one of the rear seat hinges...

At lest if you take everything out, you can be 100% sure.
