Doors unlocking on cornering

Featured Replies

I recently noticed that on a couple of right-handers, the central-locking activated and unlocked the doors (I have the "auto lock on driving" enabled).  It is not often but it happened twice in the space of a few minutes last week, after around a 1 hour drive (and my wife, who drives the car most, reports that "oh yes, it does that sometimes").  There was nothing resting on or around the button on the central console.

Any clues?  It is going in to the dealer soon for some planned work, so I'll mention it to them, but it would be good to send it in with an idea what they should be looking at.

Maybe the mechanism in the central locking button has failed and it's inadvertently making the connection as you corner and lateral force is applied to it - try disconnecting the switch then drive along the same roads and see if the problem repeats?

Yep - I did think along these lines (although not yet checked to see how easy it is to get at the switch).  Thing is, it isn't easy to replicate the issue (as always!).
