Is it from a private source or Skoda dealer? If from a dealer then just drive it and make sure you are happy with the way it goes. They are fast and fairly refined compared to the PD engine. It does require a few more revs than the PD engine when driving as it is a much shorter stroke engine and can't be plonked about quite so much at low revs. Fuel economy suffers if you do it that way. Look for full service history from a Skoda dealer preferably. That way you know it's had any ecu updates etc. If from a private source, do all the usual checks and make sure the dpf is still intact and not showing any lights on the dash. They are not particularly known for dpf problems but some folk like to take them off (for a variety of misinformed reasons) which now makes it illegal to use on the road even if it has an MOT. Don't ask me anymore about the dpf thing as we all went through a very lengthy thread on here about it with much disagreement! You can find that one yourself. But they are a good car. My lil sis has one (the Fabia estate) and just loves it. Very good on fuel if driven right and very reliable.

thanks

i loved my yfab vrs forced to sell due to starting a family and have missed it ever since it was a great car, looking for something cheap to run as will be using it for work and i get a milage allowance which i hope will cover the cost of the car.

from a trader who sell from his house, hes pretty good has bin in business for years and has a good reputation. will see what tomorrow brings i think he will take the punto (don't ask) wifes car as part x

thanks again.

I have a 10 plated 1.6CR Fabia and it a great car, mine has done 15k so difficult to say how a 40k one should be, but the advice about the DPF is good, some have gone to the length of hollowing out the DPF so you can still see the '' bulge '' in the exhaust, apart from plugging in a diagnotics tool i am unsure how you will tell if its still there, the light will not show if its been professionally deleted within the ECU..... Just be aware of this as px'ing it without a DPF maybe an issue in the future and selling it on with the same will simply bring you a whole world of problems from the new buyer..... when they find out !

What is the timing belt interval on the 1.6 TDI (105)? I've got a 10 plate on 30k miles. I assume the water pump and tensioner pulley are done as a matter of course?

mines a 11plate 1.6tdi 105 combi (estate) dont nearly 48k and no issueus fantastic motor easily does 63+ without really trying, as said above engine does require more revs than older pd but is so much more refined. go for it!
