Vrs stage 2: power loss UPDATE

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have a vrs that has been stage 2 mapped, and my brother has been borrowing it for a few days. A few days ago on the motorway he hit a badger at about 70mph, a few intercooler pipes became dislodged, but were corrected after. Now the Octy doesn't seem as powerful, still boosts fine according to my boost gauge, but doesn't feel as quick. I suspected the exhaust couldve been damaged somehow by the badger, however I went to a garage today and the exhaust seems fine, and was told by the mechanic that the gasket from the turbo to exhaust manifold is leaking and therefore needs to be replaced. Could this leak explain the major power loss?

Bump

That's certainly not gonna help. Mine was leaking recently and after I eventually got it fixed it felt like a different car. Felt so much better, especially low end.

Update:

Just found out that it is the downpipe gasket that is blowing, could this cause power loss?? Could the downpipe bolts have worked loose also?

For the sake of a new gasket, only a few quid at skoda or tps get it changed mate. Was it blowing before its badger attack?

I'm getting the gasket changed today. Yes, it was blowing before the badger attack, but performance was not affected as it is now..

??

Did you get it changed? Have any wires to the exhaust sensors been damaged if billy badger went under the car?

Not yet, no. The garage I went to got delivered the wrong gasket from TPS and then were too busy to get my Octavia fixed on time. The mechanic had a look under the car and said all was fine.. I'm just wondering would a exhaust blow from the downpipe affect performance this much??

It could do yeah if it was really bad

It most definitely can, had only a small hole on my Subaru down pipe and it wouldn't boost at all.
