Swapping Skoda 1.8tsi for Audi S3 2.0tfsi.

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how tricky it is to swap the 1.8tsi for a 2.0tfsi?

This is on a Yeti.

Obviously part of the work will involve uprated intercooler, fuel pump, etc... as part of tuning the 2.0tfsi.

So I am talking in terms of just swapping the engines and getting it running.

Just searched google couldn't see much for 2.0tfsi swapped for 1.8tsi I guess you'd just be best to look at the mounting points etc!

Like the sound of this Richard, I would give Jim a call down at JKM for the transplant options

I have decided after looking at the info to put a 2.0tsi in instead.

Basically getting the 2.0tsi with the same age as my 1.8tsi means a straight swap, they even use the same management system.

I might end up 20bhp down, but it's far, far easier and the car will be off the road a lot less time.

So instead of 430-440bhp I'll hopefully end up with 410-420bhp.

Sourcing the engine, tuning and installing will be on my Yeti project thread at some stage...

Less power. Are you feeling alright? :D

The extra 20bhp could triple the cost and time required.

I'll cope. ;)

Wise choice LOL.

Why not just mod the 1.8tsi?  They respond nicely with a K04, DP, bigger IC, tune & associated minor tweaks.

It's on the thread, but basically I want a 400bhp Yeti instead of the 320bhp Yeti I've already got.

Yes, I should have read more before responding.

It's looking like a fun car.  An option I'll keep in mind if I move on from my 1.8tsi Octy

The 2.0 TSI when fitted with a K04 turbo makes a fairly substantial amount of extra power when compared to a 2.0 K04 TFSI . Same deal with all the big turbo upgrades. Its due to the higher pressure rail pressure and a few other differences.

One issue with the 2.0 TSI is oil starvation leading to turbo failure during heavy cornering (Im talking on track with semi slicks and be auction handling mods) a few guys on the gti forum had this happen. APR produced a kit to stop this issue iirc but it wasn't cheap
