Skoda uk as now opened a case for me and my car

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Just dropped my vrs of at gordan lamb skoda for its first mot and service tomorrow.

The other week gordan lambs sent me a leaflet about 3 plus plan with fixed pricing for service, brake fluid, mot etc etc. so thought good deal went down and booked it in the other week ready.

When I dropped it off tonight the number plate was wrong for about the 6th time. I tell them everytime I go in. Also I asked what was I getting for my money.

Oil plus filter

Sump plug

Health check

Mot

And then brake fluid change at £55

Gordan lamb leaflet £40

So I check the skoda uk website. Fixed minor service is £139 plus £45 for the brake fluid change. So that's three different prices for the brake fluid change.

I rang up the customer service to say I wasn't happy with leaflets about the prices and told them it wouldn't be a skoda service but a gordan lamb service on the cheaper prices. Erm it's skoda above the door and done in the same garage with the same mechanic. Also about the number plate they are getting wrong. So the lady on the phone Tried the original one, the wrong one and the private one. She dint sound to happy over the phone about it as my car isn't even on there system.

They have now opened a case up about it and hoping to hear back from them in 48hrs.

Last time I looked - You are not under any obligation to get a car that's under warranty serviced by a main dealer. So long as 'genuine' parts are used by a 'reputable' garage your warranty will be unaffected.

Of course there are benefits to main dealer servicing; re-sale value, knowledge ect.... But, legally, there is nothing Skoda can do if you get the car serviced elsewhere, noting the above pre-requisites of course.

Reputable is often denoted by the garage being VAT registered. But for extra points, choose one that's licensed to carry out MOT's! That way the ministry (DoT) has done the checking for you!!

To be fair, with the Fabia VRS Mk2's reputation for issues I'd not take one anywhere else than a main dealer.

In the hope of a goodwill gesture from Skoda if anything went wrong later on...

I've been on the phone to them 3x since last night. I've now had to email them my v5c because they've got nothing on there system for my fabia vrs. Also try and get some money off

They have your car on the system with the 'vin' surely!

Don't forget that the Skoda Fixed Price servicing is only applicable to participating dealers, not every Skoda dealer.

Still shoddy service though

And where dealers do participate, the following applies.

'Prices offered in our Fixed price servicing offer are the maximum selling prices. ŠKODA Authorised Repairers are free to offer prices lower than this offer.'
