Aircon problem

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,    Problem with the aircon   - it's working ok but it's not cold enough,  even on full blast. Cool air coming through but it never gets really cold. Previous cars I've had would get ice cold if required. Car is Octavia 1.8 TSI  Elegance 2011 petrol. Pretty certain it was ok last summer.

What's  likely to be the cause and how do I  can I diagnose it ?  I have made sure it's on Low  and Dual.   Any advice would much appreciated.  thanks.

I would have the aircon serviced which includes a leak check and regas to see if that fixes the problem. I had that done to my Octavia at 3 years and the aircon is noticeably colder.

Could be the condenser if a regas doesn't do the track. Quite common.

sounds like it needs a regas, some place will not charge if they don't reduce the temp by so many degrees worth looking around for the best deal

Thanks guys for the advice, much appreciated. I will try a regas first  and then go from their. Cheers

I had similar lack of very cold air on mine - a regas didn't do the trick and I just found out that one of the metal aircon pipes at the front of the bonnet has rubbed against a metal clip, which has made a pretty big hole in the pipe.  Happy its not the condenser!

The good news is the price of condensers had come down.

Skoda main dealer is replacing mine for 750

Is it still under warranty, if so get a skoda dealer to check it out , cheaper in the long run.

Yes erindad, it is still under warranty and booked in for MOT and 3yr service soon, so will get it checked out then, Just wondered what it was likely to be. Keep fingers crossed that a regas will solve it.  Thanks all.
