Engine Noise from brand new Citigo

Featured Replies

Picked brand new Citigo up yesterday, 1.0 SE, and done about 60 miles so far.

Seems to be a fair bit of engine noise at low revs, especially in 4th and 5th gear. Not sure if it's just a characteristic of the car or should I be asking dealership to take a look?

Quite famous on these cars for noise as is the VW Up. They are noisey at low speeds and high gears. Up the rev range and they are more quiet :)

Probably sounds about right then hopefully, it's bordering on being a proper rattle rather than a bit of engine noise but had read they are noisey at low revs. Still a cracking little car though.

Does it sound Raspy?

It does.

Normal.

Or as the dealer will tell you "A Characteristic of the car"

Don't worry, enjoy.

They have a funny engine noise. At low revs its rattly and a bit diesely, but as you go up the revs it becomes a nice rasp.

The noise was describe to me as what a 3 cylinder Porsche would sound like?

Citigo sounds like a muffled version my old Triumph "Speed triple" just wish it had the get up and go the bike had ;)

The Citigo can be a little noisey.

I do like off beat engines especially the old Audi, 5 cylinder engines I remember back in the 80's.

Think you'll find it will be much better once the engine has loosened up, say after a few thousand miles. Our Mii was just the same but it's now done 10k miles and it's fine, although it's an ASG and it seemed as if the car wanted to be in a higher gear.

I had the same issue on mine, its a simple fix.
