Its back with daddy

Featured Replies

After 9 years the Fabia VRS is back with me - daughter got fed up with its recently developed faults  (slipping clutch & handbrake) and bought a fiesta and left the VRS on my drive.

Its done 120K miles and needs:

1. new clutch/bearing. (the DMF was replaced at 90K)

2. Handbrake wont work - I suspect a new rear caliper is required - easy job - I replaced one of them a year or so ago.

3. Aircon kaput - no idea whats up - maybe just needs a refill.

4  Clean the seats - the inside is like a landfill.

My plan is to quickly sort these problems and sell it or turn it into a track day car - Id love to take it round the Ring,  I dont think its worth much now.

The engine has done 80K miles and runs well - had new oil every 6K miles.

I think gearbox could do with some new oil too - what oil is required.

One has to say this has been a fantastic car - its had a hard life but never stopped running.

Good job. What is it with the Fabias and calipers. Both rears need done soon!

See attachment: for gearbox oil..

I can see from mileage quotes it has been a beast, and treated rough.

Car has done 120,000 miles

DMF done 30,000 miles

Engine replaced at 40,000 miles

Don't think it would last for very long on a track, given the car's track history, literally..LOL

yeah Im sure you right about it going bang on the track . The brakes are all sorted though. But the clutch turned out to have failed due to an oil leak at the gearbox side - not sure if its hydraulic fluid from the clutch or gearbox oil all over the inside of the bell housing.

OMG you must surely be blessed with all bad luck..
