17" rims, a hard ride

Featured Replies

My FL came with 17" rims. The ride on poor surfaces is a bit hard, as I had been led to believe was the norm, but nice on smooth surfaces, so thought no more.

Today I have started to prepare for the maiden tow later in the week and went to raise tyre pressures accordingly.

I was suprised to find they were all at 3.0 bar, OK lets say 2.9 bar as it was hot. This is well over the max stated on fuel flap.

Have you checked yours?

Mine was the same. Thought the ride was hard, so checked the pressures and they were al at 2.5 instead of 2.2/2.3

Once I deflated them a bit things improved noticeably.

Mine was in storage for a couple of years and I think that was why they were overinflated.

It's a lack of dealers checking the car properly before releasing it to the customer.

Should be part of the PDI, but not sure if it is.

One car I bought came with 40psi in the tyres instead of 30psi.

Ride was rock hard and it lacked traction.
