Looking to Buy Octavia diesel

Hi All

Looking for advice, my much loved '56 Fabia was kindly written of by a crapbox ford this week after 176k trouble free miles

I'm looking to buy an Octavia diesel estate, in pretty quick time, and am not sure as to whether to go older/ less miles or newer but similar miles.

Example

08 plate with 90000 miles

or

2011 with 90000 miles

which would you consider to be the better buy?

The car will need to last at least 5 years (that's how long it'll take to pay for it!) and will be the family work horse and will be used everyday and cover a relatively paltry 12-15k miles a year. Ideally I will keep the car until it dies of old age.

Any help around pitfalls and big imminent services etc, would be really appreciated as would general advice.
