Bluespark review. happy!

Featured Replies

But here we're talking about less end result between CAVE and CTHE and one in favor of the CAVE strangely. I don't recall any Bluespark box reviews though, only TMC ones on CAVE engines. Maybe there's a difference between those two (boxes).

Exactly my point too. :-) but the the main difference between the two engines is the mapping. So adding the Bluespark on top will give you the same results on each machine, maybe a little more on the CTHE.

The Bluespark is just charging the ECU settings to its own settings, so CAVE or CTHE it doesn't matter.

  • it will improve the o-60 , but not by much, if you look at the graphs with the box fitted there are bigger gains mid-range, basically, 0-60 will feel similar, but overtaking, coming off roundabouts ec

On setting 5 now anyway so must be 400bhp at least

The graph

I do not understand why you would go to the effort of getting a box fitted and paying the expense of a dyno if you're not going to run the box on setting 5.

Ill get mine on a dyno in a month when Wallace Performance have their new one and then we will see, guarantee mine is 203+

97ron fuel used. Service due 2000miles. What are the actual figures these tmc boxes are achieving and not what they quote?

I would seriously either put the box on setting 5 and go for another dyno session, or send the box back and request a new one. i know for sure mine produces more than that even without it being on a dyno.

less than 10hp is a bit of a ****ter,

I left it on this setting from the review of the other members who have it and said they thought it ran better on that setting. Well guarantee mine is 203+ on the top setting too then..

Are you using a bluespark box? And on setting 5?? The guy at the dino said there would be a bit of a difference in setting 5 but not massive

Is the CAVE (older car) likely to have more miles, run in more and therefore be looser.

Cleanliness of air filters, spark plugs, difference between certain brands of 97 RON and certain 99 RON fuels.

In the Awesome GTI Rolling Road Day thread I'm sure a stock CTHE posted 193 bhp.

You also look to have gained a bit of a poor 4k to 5k revs plateau with the box on and your stock power delivery line is better than box power

I would hope so, i dont know what figures bluespark state but i would be a bit gutted,

just so you know, setting 5 is more than fine, it is more aggressive yes, but only when pressing on, in the wet it can spin the wheels up all day (1st-5th in damp with contact 3 tires) if you boot it from a standing start but who boots it when its wet?

get the setting changed and see if you like it for yourself :) different things for different people.

Get an intercooler fitted next, this is the best thing you can do to your engine to actually keep using the power, mine without it started to get overly hot, and knock power back quite a lot...

I am running setting 5, i tried 4 when i was having misfire issues,

4 was a bit weak, 5 is more aggressive.

All this negativity and it wasnt on highest setting... i know how it feels to drive . The torque i got was the same as a revo remap the guy showed me one he had done and compared the graph. Maybe i should of tried setting 5 but nevermind

Il give it a go on 5 then lol.

My car at Awesome GTI (different rollers) but with a before and after APR Stage 1 Map on a CAVE with ITG intake only.  My Fabia had 40k miles on the clock so was good and run in.

im not being negative, promise, just trying to get my head around the lower figure. come on, its quite a lot less than they even state on their website,

im about drivability, if it drives good thats all that matters.

im happy you took the plunge and shocked you took it for a dyno so quickly, well done :)

give setting 5 a go when you start to get used to 4, i will put money on it being 10 times better :)

at least you have some base numbers to work from now dont you :)

DID NOT EXPECT THAT!

do you think the standard intake is restrictive?

what an increase! :)

edit, didnt see the arp map...

This and a few other graphs mainly on facebook showing the ITG gains where what made me splash the cash for one. It has proven to give a consistent 5-7 hp increase as opposed to other filters that have even worsened performance.

Don't want to bang the drum on this one, but that is what a good remap gives, and I repeat, my car was 3 years old and 40k miles so the engine would be loose.  VPower 99 Nitro+

I believe the ITG gives 5hp stock and maybe as much as 8bhp mapped, the stock intake is ok, I have just swapped back to the stock airbox and I notice the car is a little bit less eager to rev, mostly I notice how quiet the stock box is. Which can be nice, but a little boring and occasionally dangerous as speed creeps up on you quicker without realising.

^^ This

ITG are quality because they can give dyno graphs for all of their intakes. They do proper testing.

Yeah thats a good figue for a remap. 10 or so more thab ive just got for a tuning box which wasnt on the last setting. So i think for the 125pound i paid to the cost of a proper remap the bhp isnt all that greater to be fair.

Let's not start a box vs remap debate. I wouldn't put one of those boxes on mine even if it was given to me for free but that's just my opinion. A car can go faster in many ways, I always prefer it is due to a proper remap though. Nothing more to add on that.

Not starting a debate. Just saying for the money it cost its not that far off remap figures. Obviously with a remap you will get a better power delivery. But 125quid its hardly expensive

Tmc with cthe graph anyone? Putting mine on setting 5 now. Although I don't believe many of the tmc box owners have theirs on the top setting?

I havent got TMC CTHE, but this is my CAVe with TMC no other mods, on settind 7 (out of 10)

so pretty similar to be fair...

BUT my CTHE feels just as quick standard as the above car was ;)

Did they tell you why your torque curve has such a significant dip at circa 3100 rpm?

There, I found it.

CAVE + TMC = 202

but...

CAVE + TMC + ITG = 211 !

Another case where the ITG showed clear gains.

So, I guess you can expect a max of ~ 200 bhp at best for those boxes with everything else stock, no matter CAVE or CTHE. Someone wrote he is expecting at least 210 with his Bluespark? Would be interesting to see that.
